Dr. Steven Walsh

I have been bringing my family to this center for many years primarily because of its convenient location near our home. However, my experience with the professionalism of the staff has raised concerns from the start. My son requires special care for his vision, and we chose to remain with this center based on Dr. Walsh's recommendation for myopia management. Although the treatment represents a significant financial commitment, I believed it was in my child's best interest, particularly given my own personal experience with eye disease. I was told this treatment would include eye exams to monitor his progress and ensure his lenses and vision were well maintained. Now, midway through the second year of his treatment, I received a letter from Dr. Walsh stating that our services were being discontinued, citing, "When trust is lost, it is time to part ways." My son started his second year of myopia management in August, and we had scheduled a six-month follow-up appointment. When we arrived, however, I was asked to sign and pay for an annual exam that included additional scans. I questioned the necessity of this eye scan, believing it was meant to be a follow-up for myopia management. Dr. Walsh clarified that this appointment was classified as an annual eye exam, not related to myopia management. He informed me that if I didn't want to pay for the additional scan, I would need to explore new insurance options. Moreover, he mentioned there was no need to follow up on myopia management unless we observed specific issues. This was surprising, as he had seen my son several times during the first year to monitor the effectiveness of the treatment. Essentially, it now seemed that the payment for myopia management only covered contact lenses. It's disheartening to feel that my concerns were handled unprofessionally, especially given the substantial costs involved. Just last month, I spent $150 for my own eye exam and purchased a year's supply of contact lenses for $800. Over the years, I have invested thousands of dollars in care with this doctor. To receive a letter terminating care for my son while he is in the midst of his myopia treatment reflects a troubling level of professionalism and commitment to patients. While the center's location is certainly convenient for our family, the initial promise of my son's treatment has been overshadowed by a lack of transparency and the abrupt cutoff of services. I felt it necessary to leave this review to inform others that Dr. Walsh and his staff do not prioritize a commitment to their patients within our community.
