First time I've needed any vision care other than an exam for glasses at 60 yrs. First visit with Doctor Saurino at 66 yrs to hear options on a surgical procedure for one of my eyes. Yes, as I've read through some of the reviews, he is very busy. I don't mind this because if your busy, you have a very strong respect in the field. The 1st step of dilating my eyes and the initial exam was a little long but still feel with as many patients that were there I expected it to be longer. Appointment was at 11:00 and didn't get to Dr Saurino's exam until 12:30 or so. A little bit of a wait but between waiting the time for paperwork, 1st exam, dilation drops for your eyes to dilate, didn't feel like I was forgotten or past over. He was quick to tell me what was wrong with my eye and how it is effecting my overall sight. He talks very quick but I feel like he allowed questions or concerns. Most doctors I've been to chat a bit and I feel its about me being comfortable more than anything. With the schedule he has to keep, he doesn't have the luxury of time with the amount of people waiting. He is very spiritual which if your not Christian, maybe I get it, but he is and his believe is to pray for the best out-come possible. That one thing is why I feel like I'm where I belong for this kind of medical help. You only have 2 eyes and I don't take chances on either of them. Thank you Doctor for your care and for the "person" you are.
Dr. Saurino performed retinal peel surgery on my eye about 15 years ago. Before the surgery, one of the nurses told me he devotes more time than other surgeons to get things meticulously right. Now, 15 years later and living in a different state, I'm glad he did. My outcome has been so excellent it has surprised my current ophthalmologist.
Cut me off multiple times while collecting (very short) history, diagnosed 3 month daily symptoms as ophthalmic migraine (those last an hour or less), and spoke well out of turn on a neurological diagnosis outside of his scope with inaccurate information. Also he will probably call you "kiddo" if you're under 40. Asked for copay/deductible up front and was told they would have to "verify" then forced me to pay following the visit, no payment plan option. Even apart from the wait times, I would avoid at all costs.
Expect to wait at least 2-3 hours every visit. He's nice but needs to respect his patients time.
I have seen Dr. Saurino twice, the latest was yesterday for AMD. As a retired RN, I have seen few medical offices run as smoothly as Dr. Saurino's. His staff are prepared, friendly and prompt. I have never
waited more than 10 minutes. As for Dr. Himself, he is topnotch. Thank you Lord for Dr. Saurino.
Dr. Saurino is a brilliant physician. He is direct, does not leave you wondering about your situation. At the same time, he is genuinely compassionate. My questions are answered before I even ask. Everyone I've met in his office have been efficient and very kind. I feel blessed to have Dr. Saurino taking care of my vision issues.
Took over an hr after appointment time to even get the "triage" of vitals and initial eye pictures, now 2 hrs past appointment time ans still waiting after being told we were waiting for an open room...I can actually physically see at least 4 open rooms from where I am sitting.
Might be a good eye surgeon but very disrespectful of your time. Expect to wait 3 hours after your appointment time to finally be seen. My time is as important as his. Grrrr...
