Dr Cox is literally the BEST! My eye teared for FOUR years, it was so annoying. I went to my optometrist every year for three years. Three different ones in the same practice. They would flush my tear duct, for one day it was great then returned to teary eye again. Finally they sent me to Dr Cox. I was in his office for less than a minute he asked if he could do an in patient surgery. I was desperate. After he went in he found two tear duct plugs and three stones which was causing an infection. FIXED ME!! AMAZING!!! Then last year my mom had one eye bulging and her doctor didn't do anything after three visits in one week. I told him refer her to Dr Cox. We had a scan and he saw a MASS behind her eye. He went in and it was a hemorrhoid filled with blood pushing her eye out. He released the pressure and it healed up perfectly. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
My wife was referred to him for an eye removal from previous trauma and was causing her a lot of pain we went in to do the consultation with him, and that itself was concerning, when we went in, he didn't run any blood work on my wife. He didn't check her eye pressure. He didn't do an ultrasound her on her eye, literally nothing just said that he could get her scheduled in in a couple of weeks without really knowing anything. He halfway explained the process to us and sent us on our way. That weekend, my wife Wife started experiencing a New pain in that eye that got her admitted into the hospital when they called Dr. Cox he never cared to come and check it out. He just said that there was nothing that he could do that. They couldn't move her schedule up more than the couple days that they did because he had vacation that week. After a couple days of being in the hospital and him making it clear that he did not care about what was going on with her eye, we no longer wanted him doing her surgery at that point and so we found an eye doctor in Oklahoma City and went to a consultation, and I was mind blown by the difference of how things went. As soon as we got in, they took her eye pressure did an ultrasound on her eye didn't EKG and did bloodwork to make sure everything was good before surgery along with him actually sitting down with us and it's showing us models of the whole eye procedure and what will be happening at every step. Doctor Cox told my wife that we could do a prosthetic after four weeks and the doctor in Oklahoma City said that was concerning because the soonest that she should get one done is between 2 to 3 months. Also, if Dr. Cox would actually care to look at her eye he would've seen that she has an oil bubble in the back that was leaking oil and that's what landed her in the hospital in so much pain when he treated her like she was just crazy. After seeing the difference between the two doctors, I highly do not recommend Dr. Cox. He was about to just go blindly cutting into my wife's eye and removing it without actually seeing what was going on first. And having her sitting in pain for three weeks until he could fit her in to his schedule.
Dr Cox, removed my hubby's eye due to damage. He is such a great Dr. and very caring during and afterwards. His staff have all been so nice. They were so caring when we called w/concerns after surgery. Thank you!
Wanted to add, he is such a patient Dr., with all our concerns and fears.
I had an appointment with Dr. Shannon Cox at his office and same day surgery with Dr. Cox at the Eye Surgery Center of Tulsa. I had read reviews beforehand that his staff and he were very good. I have to say my experience was better than very good. Every single staff person and Dr. Cox were knowledgeable, helpful, kind and made me feel I had come to the right place. I was confident after the consultation I had picked the right physician and after surgery I was even more convinced. Professionalism, and the ability to make you feel taken care of don't often go together but with this team they do. The entire experience was excellent.
So, two things. 1st - in 2023 I had out patient surgery done one my tear ducts. Dr. Cox had to put "stints" in both because they collapsed and closed. One of them started coming out and my husband called the emergency number we was given, with in minutes Dr called us & told us what to do.
2nd end 2024 & continuing... My husband had a skin cancer on the side of his nose. One Dr. removed it and had to call Dr Cox for consult do to being so close to his eye. Dr. Cox got him into outpatient surgery the very next day. My husband stated to bleed out that night. I had to call emergency # Dr. called within minutes. He had me take him to "HIS" office and he got the bleeding stopped. ( New Year's Eve night, Date night with his wife. ) Thank you Dr. Cox for being such an amazing human being and caring about your patience. Hope Beck and Harry Beck. !!
I had a small hemangioma directly under my eye. I was nervous about getting it removed from so close to my eye. Dr. Cox was very gentle and quickly removed it while walking me through each step and checking if I was ok (it took less than 5 minutes). Everyone in this office is incredibly friendly and professional. The front desk, the nurses, and Dr. Cox definitely exceeded my expectations. Super happy with my visit and procedure. Definitely recommend.
My eye has been swollen for four months following a simple procedure. He seemed very dismissive and disinterested in my my problem. I wouldn't recommend him.
AFTER READING THEIR REPLY:
I should have added that Dr. Cox did not perform the procedure. Nevertheless, in my opinion, he was dismissive regarding my problem. From what I've read an eye shouldn't remain swollen for four months after cataract surgery. I thought he could shed some light on my condition. I was wrong. However, the staff were great.
Exceptional Dr., assistant & front desk! My previous eye office has front desk "gate keepers" that would let you lose an eye before getting you in for an issue. Stick you with the optometrist BC ophthalmologist was booked out for weeks. Optometrist has not clue how ro help & issue worsens. I called Dr. Cox bc I had blood tinged ooze, they squeezed me in that day! Took care of me & he sees me for follow ups instead of passing me off to a random optometrist. Thank you Dr. Cox & Staff !
