I'm a new patient here and so far I've been very pleased. I have a unique situation and Catherine and the staff have been so patient in helping me get the eyewear I need. I'm so glad I took a chance on a local facility, many times they are better than larger chains!
Dr. Mcevoy and Dr. Turin are both great. Very knowledgeable and kind. I always have good experiences here. Would definitely recommend as a local.
I had a very thorough exam letting me know the current condition of my eyes. Determining my prescription went quickly. When ordering my lenses, I let her know what I would like. She didn't try to up sale other products, which I truly appreciated. Regarding the cost, she thoroughly explained how she arrived at the price. Excellent experience on all levels.
First time at the Sandy office and it was great. The doctor was cordial and very thorough. The eyeglass selection process was very good as well. The folks there were very nice and the whole experience was pleasant. I would recommend them for your vision needs.
When I started going to Mount Hood Eye Care I lived in Government Camp so it was close for me. I really like Dr Turin. He's very understanding, calm, and straightforward. I saw the new doctor this time. It's nice because he works on Saturdays. Then new doctor is very nice and knowledgeable and just as awesome as Dr. Turin. I like it also because it's a small clinic feel. You don't get anything automated... Other than a text reminder of your appointment which is helpful. The front desk staff are amazing. Overall A+!! Oh also, I also just moved into deep Portland and I am keeping Dr. Turin as my eye doctor. I don't mind the extra commute.
Mt. Hood Eye Care provided a generally decent experience, and I would rate it a solid 4 out of 5. The frame selection felt somewhat limited--comparable to what you might find at a larger chain like LensCrafters rather than a high-end optical boutique. While there were options available, it didn't feel like there was an extensive variety to choose from.
The service itself was fine--professional and competent--but it didn't stand out as particularly warm or exceptional. The staff handled everything efficiently, but there was a certain formality to the atmosphere that was hard to ignore. It wasn't unwelcoming, but it felt rigid, almost like stepping into a principal's office or a library. There was an air of strict professionalism that, while not necessarily a bad thing, made the experience feel a bit stiff.
As for the turnaround time for the lenses, it was reasonable. It took about two weeks to receive them, which isn't unusually slow but also not particularly fast. Once received, both the lenses and frames appeared to be of decent quality, meeting expectations for durability and clarity.
Overall, my experience at Mt. Hood Eye Care was positive, though nothing stood out as exceptional. The office is clean, professional, and runs efficiently, but the somewhat rigid atmosphere and limited frame selection kept it from being a top-tier experience. If you're looking for a straightforward and professional eye care provider, this is a solid option, but it may not be the most inviting or expansive in terms of selection.
Such a professional and warm environment. Staff are always welcoming and so helpful! Dr. Turin is respectful of my tendency to worry and answers all my questions with kindness and reassurance. I usually see him, but they have a new Dr. on staff now (congrats on the clinics growth!) Named Dr. McEvoy. I saw him for my last visit and he was wonderful. I wont go anywhere else for my eye care!
My experience at Mt.Hood Eye Care was phenomenal! Dr McEvoy was wonderful and answered all of my questions regarding my previous experience with contacts and the changes I was hoping to make. When I was picking out frames for my new glasses, Catherine went up and above in double checking on my insurance benefits and found the coverage I actually have! Not only that, but when I mentioned that although I liked the new frames I picked out, I truly prefer my current frames but could not go without my glasses while waiting on new lenses to be put in my current frames. Catherine actually asked me what I liked most about my current frames so she could find a similar pair (my current pair has been discontinued). Nobody has ever taken the time to ask, listen, and then act upon my answer! She listened to my answers and looked around and found a pair of frames that I love. Then, Catherine explained that because my current frames are rimless on the bottom, she can ask if the lab still has the lens pattern to replace my old lenses so that I can continue to use my current frames! Now, I am getting new beautiful and durable frames at no charge (free with my insurance) and can get lenses for my current frames at a later time for a backup pair...or maybe as sunglasses!!! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, Catherine, Dr. McEvoy, and Mt.Hood Eye Care for a wonderful experience!
