Simon Eye- Glen Mills

It saddens me to leave this review, but after being a Simon Eye client for over 25 years (since I was a toddler!), I won't be returning after my experiences at the Glen Mills location. During my first visit post-office transfer from Hockessin, I saw the male optometrist Dr. Bumstead, who was over-complimentary of my appearance in a way that made me feel like an object instead of a patient. During the second and final visit, I was grateful to see the female optometrist (Dr. Bwint). She first looked at my age and told me I "better start having babies soon," which made me extremely uncomfortable. When I provided her with feedback about the male optometrist making me feel uncomfortable, she brushed it off and encouraged me to take it as a compliment. Both times I left the office quickly and with my skin crawling. While I understand neither doctor had bad intentions, both could benefit from significant sensitivity trainings. Until then, if you're a woman or a person of color who's more at risk of medical objectification, I would steer clear of this place or visit another Simon Eye location. Update: I forgot about a third time I visited, where I waited for nearly two hours and had to leave without being seen due to other plans. Very disorganized!

I visited this Simone eye about a week ago, I had a completely disappointing experience at Simone Eyes Center. Dr. Bumbsted, who I saw , was rude, dismissive, and seemed uninterested in addressing my concerns. It was clear he wasn't listening to me, and he rushed through the appointment without offering any useful explanations. The office itself was disorganized, and I felt like just another number in their system. I left feeling worse than when I arrived, and I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone. Save yourself the trouble and find a more professional and compassionate doctor elsewhere. I bet if I was another color my experience would be totally different smh

Dr Bumstead has made racist comments to me on my face. I stopped going to see him when he owned the practice . My wife however wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and when she recently took my daughter for an office visit to see him he made a similar racist comment to my 12 year daughter. My daughter was so hurt. We are never going back to say the least

Amazing doctor with state of the art equipment! No joke - I received the most thorough eye exam that I have ever had. The support staff was extremely accommodating and genuinely seemed to care about my wants and needs. They were also really great at reviewing my options and even gave me honest feedback on which frames looked the best! This by far exceeded any experience that i have had at the "franchised" big box that I have been to in the past.

I had a great experience at Simon Eye - West Chester! The front desk staff is kind and checked me in very fast. I was seen by Dr. Bwint right on time. Dr. Bwint spent a lot of time on my exam and explained things to me thoroughly. She gave me good suggestions for eye care. I'll definitely be going to this location from now on.

This practice is top notch. I've been seeing Dr. Bumsted since moving into the area almost 10 years ago, when I referred by a colleague. He provides thorough exams and spends time with his patients. Staff is attentive and friendly. Always a great experience.

Had a top notch experience here. Doc was super cool and down to earth. Very professional and took his time to give me a thorough exam. The ladies out front were equally good at what they do and I would recommend to anyone looking for an exam and glasses

The screws in my reading glasses came off, was able to fix it the same day. Dr. Bumsted and the front desk person( forgot her name) was so accommodating, both were able to fix my glasses. Happy with their service. Much appreciated
