Kent Ophthalmology

I have been a patient at Kent Ophthalmology for several years now. This past year I moved from just needing routine exams to needing cataract surgery and the associated care surrounding those surgeries. I am very happy with the care I've received, from the "regular and routine" to the more significant interventions and my recent surgeries. Dr Varr is excellent and has a calm demeanor that I find reassuring and helpful when educating me on changes to my vision and options for my care. My surgeries truly were far less stressful than I would have ever imagined they could have been, and the results have been really life-changing, considering my degree of myopia. I have had positive experiences with all the staff that I've encountered in the office, both over the phone and in person. I've had so many appointments this year that we've gotten to the point where they don't even need my name to check me in and out (alas, the side effects of needing eye surgery, but they really do get to know their patients!) When registering as a new patient or when making routine appointments, I did have to plan ahead, as appointments were generally available multiple months out. I find this reasonable, given the non-urgent nature of those routine appointments. When I did develop a concern and call in to be seen on a more urgent basis, I was able to be seen quickly (within a couple of days of my call). When scheduling and preparing for my cataract surgeries, Tara was very organized and efficient when preparing me for everything that the surgeries would entail. She prepares a folder of information and instructions, ensures medications are prepared and administration instructions are clear (including a supply bag to keep medications, records, and sunglasses together so they won't be lost!), and all the pre and post-op appointments were set at once so that I could prepare for them. Given that this is for a surgery affecting vision, this level of preparation and consideration is so important and helpful. I've also seen Ellen at Kent Optical exclusively for my glasses since I started as a patient in this office. She is wonderful and knowledgeable, and really helps clarify options for glasses and frames that will fit best with my life and what I need to see my best.

Everyone is very friendly. Patience is an excellent quality in an office. You will find this here. Very happy with everyone. They take the time to explain throughly. Thank you.

Dr. Varr and his staff have provided me with top quality medical care and friendly, caring support for years. My recent cataract surgeries were 'easy' and very successful. I highly recommend their services.

I am going to share something that may help the office. I have not even been to this office and I cancelled my appointment due to the receptionist. I had to repeat everything twice on the phone and I was quite clear. Frankly the front desk person sounded like she didn't have it together. As I was writing my appointment down I was trying to confirm the date and she constantly interrupted me saying "date of birth, date of birth, date of birth!" The receptionist is one of the most important people for the business of an office because they give the very first impression and represent the office. I don't want test results, important information to the doctor or referrals in the hands of someone who can't even get simple things straight. I called back to cancel my appointment and spoke to the second front desk person and again, ZERO personality! Too bad because I'm sure the doctor is wonderful from all his great reviews. Come on folks. It's a business. Fix it! Made an appointment at another office and spoke to a lovely receptionist that didn't interrupt and got all the information right the first time.

I've been having eye exams by Dr. Varr for well over 30 years, he is an excellent ophthalmologist

I have been a patient of Dr Vazrr for years. He is extremely professional and kind. I was happy to see some changes at the front desk. I apologize but the older woman who is the receptionist is the kindest and most efficient staff member that he has had. Some were just rude and did not provide good customer service in the past. Happy for this change.

I've been going to Dr Varr for many years he is a true professional in his field he took great care in my cataract surgery and also performed surgery on my eye lid both times my eye problems were solved answers any questions to my ability to understand what the diagnosis is get there on time and you are promptly taken care of staff is well prepared ask about any problems and exams are through I have recommended the Dr to family's and friends

Doctor Varr and Kent Ophthalmology is a great place to go for eye care. Everyone is extremely professional and knowledgeable. The eyeglass shop next door is convenient and well run. I highly recommend Kent Ophthalmology for all your eye care needs.
