I have been a patient at West Bay Eye Associates , Dr. Georgia Patsiopoulos, M.D., for quite a few years now and have always been happy here.. The team is always respectful of my waiting time and and value me as a patient. The office is always neat , clean and orderly.. So far I have always received my yearly Eye exam and purchased eyewear in the Optical section but today was an emergency visit . I called around opening time, explained my problem and after a short wait was told to come right in. Upon my arrival I was taken right in and Dr. Patsiopoulos got the details and examined me, treated me and ordered my meds within the hour . Her mannerism was always soft spoken, and compassionate along with her knowledge and expertise, but today it was most appreciated and after a long night of discomfort, enough to compel me to write this review.
I had what turned out to be a minor issue with my contact lense the other night. I was quite concerned so did call after hours. Dr. Montaquilla got right back to me and assured me I could wait until morning and asked me to come in first thing. Upon arrival, I was ushered into the exam room right away. Dr. Montaquilla came in and took care of the problem pronto. Thank goodness for this practice and much thanks to Dr. Montaquilla.
Great office! My doctor is Dr. Patsiopoulos, she's very thorough and super sweet! I have seen Dr. Montaquila and Dr. Dao as well for emergency appointments who are both phenomenal as well. All the doctors are great and very accommodating. The lab staff is FANTASTIC especially Daniella! They have a great selection of frames and she takes her time to make sure you have the perfect fit. If there was an option for 10 stars they would get all 10! Thanks for everything West Bay Eye!
I couldn't get into my usual dr and was able to make an appointment for the next day here, front desk woman was friendly, kind and accommodating.
The woman that helped me pick out my glasses, I believe her name was Daniella, was super helpful, took her time with me and had a great "eye" for what looked best on me!
Definitely recommend West Bay Eye Associates!
I actually have two reviews. Dr. Montaquila is a wonderful eye doctor and I have 100% confidence with his care for my eye health and needs. However, I have had a completely opposite experience with the office staff and will write a separate post.
Have been a patient here for several years. We are always pleased with the service and treatment we get from them. I even had an issue with my new frames, they took care of it for me and got me a new frame (crystals were falling out). I trust them and suggest them to everyone we know.
I can say from my experience, this place was great. My exam went well, I was told I didn't need to get a new prescription of glasses, where my old place, I won't say the name, but they're probably the largest eye place in the state, they would always pressure me to buy a new set of glasses. I feel like I'm treated as family.
I will NEVER go here again. I made an appointment around my lunch schedule thinking an hour would be enough time for a routine eye exam and contact fitting, as it has been many times before. I got there 15 minutes early to fill out the usual first appointment paperwork. One of the receptionists was very nice but the other was off putting, and bordered on rude.
I was walking into the appointment a few minutes late, not a big deal, then their "nurse" said: "So you don't wear contact, you can just sit here" ... I DO WEAR CONTACTS. I told the person when I made my appointment I needed an update for my contacts AND my glasses on this visit, over a week before. I also wrote that into the form they had me fill out.
I was walked back to the waiting room, where I sat for 15 minutes basically twiddling my thumbs and googling other nearby eye doctors.
I finally got into my appointment, almost 30 minutes late. Normally that wouldn't be a big deal, but I overheard the receptionists saying the woman who went in before me arrived 30 minutes late and was still taken in (DURING MY TIME SLOT).
Once in the eye doctor insulted the brand I use, and have happily used for 14 years and told me it was "behind the times" and tried to get me into a different brand that felt no different and were more than twice the price. HARD PASS.
Then once I made it VERY clear I was just there to get the prescription updates so I could get new contacts and keep going with my life he started to tell me my prescription changed, to a WEAKER power than I've had for 3 years. Apparently your eyes can get better as you age..?? I call BULL S###. I told him my eyes have not changed and I refuse to walk out of here with weaker lenses than I use. I refuse to have to come back in a month to tell you how my eyes work.
He caved and prescribed my previous power, but didn't write a glasses prescription. As I was paying my co-pay, being instructed how to use an acidic cleaner by the off putting receptionist he came back out with a glasses prescription.
I ordered that prescription online and finally got them in, I am sitting at my desk right now feeling like I did in 5th grade when I was unable to see the board. HE WROTE THE WEAKER SCRIP FOR MY GLASSES. I now have basically useless glasses, am out the $50 specialist co-pay that I will probably now have to pay AGAIN for a QUALITY Dr and lost half an hour of pay that week due to my appointment being over an hour and a half with the waiting.
Unless you feel like wearing the wrong prescription, enjoy being told you don't know your own body, or wasting even more of your time than a typical visit I highly recommend you look elsewhere.
