After years of coming here, today will be my last. I ordered contacts through them after my eye appointment, which were extremely expensive even with the rebate. It seemed to be way more than I remember paying last time, so within less than an hour I called back to ask if I could please cancel my order. They gave a bunch of excuses as to why they couldn't, but really they just wouldn't. They blatantly lied and said it couldn't be done because it was already "filed." They were talking in circles and their reasons made no sense. I know that canceling an order within this timeframe can easily be done since I have a family member who has been in the eye care business for over 30 years. Instead of lying to your customers, be upfront and just say you won't due to your own personal policy... because really that's all it is. An unwillingness to be accommodating. They will clearly lie to your face in an attempt to pretend they're a business that values customers. My husband and I will be finding a new eye doctor who cares about patients over money.
I had to get my driver's license renewed. I went there and told them where I was going and what I was going for. Since I recently got prescription glasses for reading and I knew I would need some information to give the DMV. They printed something out and gave it to me. Upon arriving at the DMV they told me I needed the reference number which was not on the paper they gave me. I guess this was the first time a patient needed that type of information.......... Not to mention when I received the prescription they said they would send the information to the DMV
I've gone here for three appointments and in the last couple of years it's definitely gone downhill.
I went in for an eye exam and when the doctor would ask me one or two I told her repeatedly that I couldn't see clearly out of either, but she ignored me and continued to move on with the process. She told me she found my new prescription. I was very confused and said "how, I couldn't see clearly with any of the slides you put over my eyes" she replied "oh your eyes just need to get used to them." I was under the impression glasses were made to fit the individuals eyes and not you get a random pair of glasses and force your eyes to work with them.
I'm very disappointed and when I talked to the woman at the front desk, she told me I could call back in a couple of days if the prescription still wasn't working for me and that I would have to pay for another eye exam, even though the first one was not taken seriously or done properly.
Ocean Eye is the Best!
Katelyn (optician) is awesome. Very attentive and precise.
The doctors here are very good at what they do and the staff is so friendly. Each of their offices are very clean and modern, with an Aloha twist. I wish all doctors offices I go to had waiting rooms with couches as soft as they have at Ocean Eye! TOP NOTCH BUSINESS. (The sweet tea is Tha Bomb!)
(If you're a guy....don't bring sand to the beach, if ya know what I mean! These girls will make you grateful you can see so clearly!)
I had an amazing experience at Ocean Eye on old trolly! From the moment I walked in the whole staff was incredibly kind, caring, and attentive. The clinic itself was spotless and had a welcoming atmosphere that immediately put me at ease (I have not been to the eye doctor in years ). It was clear how well the team worked together, which made the entire visit seamless and efficient. I really appreciate how the team balanced professionalism with a personal touch making the whole experience smooth and stress free. I highly recommend Ocean Eye to anyone looking for quality eye care!
I had a really disappointing experience here and feel compelled to share it in hopes it helps others--or at least prompts some accountability. I went in for an eye exam and contact lens fitting, and left feeling unheard, dismissed, and still unable to see clearly.
During the exam, when I was asked the usual "better one or better two" questions, I couldn't see either option clearly--they were both blurry. I told the provider this, but instead of adjusting or troubleshooting further, they just kept going. I honestly felt like they weren't taking the time to find the right prescription, and I was left unsure how they could determine what's "best" for my eyes if I couldn't see a difference between the choices.
Then at the contact lens fitting, things got worse. I tried the contacts and was asked to read the vision chart while covering one eye. The letters were still blurry. I couldn't read them. I pointed this out, expecting some adjustment or explanation, but instead she said "try harder to read it". Ok so I either can or can't see it. After I told her about the blurriness she said "just need to get used to them." But isn't the point of contacts to improve my vision? I didn't feel like my concerns were acknowledged or addressed.
Now I'm left with contact lenses that don't correct my vision, money spent on an appointment that didn't meet my needs, and no real resolution. I don't feel confident wearing these lenses, and I honestly don't trust the prescription I was given.
I would appreciate someone from the office reaching out to discuss how this can be resolved--and hopefully issue a refund for a fitting and appointment that didn't result in usable lenses.
Went in for annual eye exam and the doctor said she was going to order me 1 contact for my left eye as a trial pair. I've done this in the past and the trial contact usually arrived in a matter of days. 3 weeks went by and I called and was told it was still on order. I called at week 4 and still nothing. I finally spoke to the manager on Friday, 4-11 and she blamed the manufacturer and stated it had shipped out. It is 4-17 and I still have not been contacted about my 1 trial contact. So I called again today, the young lady that answered said it wasn't in yet and I asked to speak to the manager again. I was transferred to a patient care coordinator and she looked up the tracking and the contact had actually been delivered to the Trolley Road office on April 14, but it must not have been unboxed yet. Like WHAT????? I have been waiting over a month for this 1 contact. I am now on hold waiting for the patient care coordinator to "find" my 1 contact.
On top of this debacle, Ocean Eye charged me over $170 for my exam when in the past at Jackson Davenport I paid $10 for my annual exam using my insurance. I will NEVER go to Ocean Eye again and will stick with Jackson Davenport.
I booked a new patient appt at the start of the summer and have been very pleased with both the service and care. I was given a thorough eye exam, new glasses, and quality samples for improved eye care. I've recently been back to combat some summer allergy eye issues and the staff make every effort to squeeze me in quickly, and still give me the very best care. I will continue to use this office for eye concerns and vision checks.
