Eyecare Center of Madison

I arrived 10 minutes late for my appointment. The receptionist asked me for my paperwork. I asked "what paperwork? You did not send me any paperwork." She replied "New patient paperwork." I replied, "I have been here before". Receptionist "Not in 21 years. Do you have insurance?" I said I did not have insurance that would cover vision." Receptionist: "Here's the forms, they're 2 sided. 2nd receptionist - You can sit over there. Do you have Medicare? Medicare will cover some of the vision exam, but not the refraction. I'll need your insurance cards." I gave her my cards. 2nd Receptionist: Is this your Medicare Advantage card?" I replied "No, I retired from the Dept. of State, this is my Federal health plan administered by Aetna. Receptionist: Aetna doesn't pay. I'll have our finance manager come and talk to you." I said I planned to pay by check for the appointment. Receptionist: "It's almost 9 am and the Dr.s 9 am patient is here. We will try to work you in. By this time I am feeling very rejected, treated like I am indigent. I feel the staff has been rude with most of their questions. The average person knows a Medicare Advantage plan requires a person to be on Medicaid. They have questioned my ability to pay for the exam. The 1st receptionist took me back to the exam room. She asked me, "So, when was your last exam? sarcastically. I answered Sep 2024, I gave the copy of my prescription to the 2nd receptionist. I asked why she was treating me like a leper? Receptionist replied, "what do you mean?" I replied You are being rude. Receptionist replied "I'll go get someone else." and left the room. Shortly, I heard her speaking on the other side of the door hearing "rude" and several voices laughing. Then Dr. Jodi Larson came in. I tried to explain what the receptionist said to me. Dr. Larson replied with "We are not going to go there. We are here to help you." And placed her hands in her lap. Her tone was condescending. If she had listened to me in the slightest or simply stated "Let's proceed with your exam." It may have ended better. I got up and said "I get it, you need to defend your employees. I am leaving," Evidently, the care of her patients is not very important and is based on the perception of your ability to pay.

Great service - My son needed glasses and Dr. Larson spoke with him directly, outlined the issues and even showed him the picture of his eye, explaining in terms he understood. Turnaround for glasses only took a couple days and he loves his "new look"!! Friendly staff who care. Highly recommend this eyecare center -

Everyone was so helpful at my appointment. Becky was so nice to visit with at the front desk and Lori and Dr. Larson helped me find a prescription that works great for me!! Lori also gave me her opinion on some new glasses that I picked out!! Thanks everyone at The Eye Care Center for the great experience!

The staff is friendly and caring, and the atmosphere is relaxed. I received a thorough eye exam, and the Doctor answered any questions I had. Excellent follow-up care on adjusting glasses after the purchase. I would highly recommend the Eyecare Center to folks.

Dr. Jodi is a very polite and professional person

My husband and I were in Madison, SD, for just a few days when I managed to break my glasses in half. The staff managed to squeeze me in to see Dr. Brooke the very next day. Dr. Brooke did a very thorough exam and made a small change in the way my lenses were configured that has really given me better sight out of my glasses. Then they worked with their lens supplier so that I was able to get my glasses the very next day so that I'd be able to see when we moved on from Madison. Thanks to everyone there! I would certainly recommend them to anyone in the Madison area.

Such a great place to go! The staff are friendly, easy to talk to, and very helpful with answering questions. It had been many years since I was last seen at the Eyecare Center but I'm very pleased with how well my exam went.

Dr. Larson was FABULOUS!! I have wore contacts for almost 40 years and the last 5-7 years I have had to use readers with them to be able to see up close - not anymore!! Dr. Larson suggested multi-focal contacts (I had tried them about six years ago with no luck) they are out of this world- no more tied to glasses to read my phone, paper, computers NOTHING!! Her staff is phenomenal- so helpful and work very hard to make sure they lessen the financial burden as much as they can!!
