These people are the best! Dr. Kortum and Amy have improved my vision to become the best it has ever been. I was born a minus 161/4 nearsighted and pretty much legally blind. They have worked very patiently with me over the last seven years with specialty lenses and recommended cataract surgeries as a follow up to Lasik earlier in life. They keep careful watch over all of my rather complicated eye issues. They take the time you need to explain things carefully and thoroughly. All of the staff is very cordial and friendly and take the time to do things right. These are people you can trust and I would highly recommend!!

I have a 5 year old, nonverbal son with ASD. He has seen Dr. Kortum twice and she is FANTASTIC with him! She listens to my concerns, she's knowledgeable and patient, and (most importantly) super creative when it comes to unconventional ways to get his eye exam done... even if that requires getting on the ground with him and meeting him at his level. We appreciate Dr. Kortum and her entire team SO much! They are very thorough and genuinely concerned. I recommend her to everyone that I hear is looking for a new optometrist! Wish I could give her TEN starts!

When I came by Kapperman McGarvey Eye Group recently, I was met with one of the most aggressive and rude front desk interactions l've ever experienced. E***, at the desk made a straightforward request feel like an interrogation, turning something simple into something completely unnecessary. I asked to speak with a specific staff member and called them by name, yet instead of acknowledging that, she started grilling me with questions. "Do you need your glasses adjusted?", "Do you need them repaired?" Every time I said no, she came back with another question. I didn't want to explain anything to her - and I shouldn't have had to. Even if I did need any of those things, it was irrelevant. I asked for a specific person, and that should have been enough. Her constant questioning was intrusive, unnecessary, and completely out of line. After sharing what happened, I learned I'm not the only one who has experienced this. Others have described the same aggressive attitude, so this isn't an isolated incident. I truly hope this is not how she was trained, because the way she interacts with people is rude, intrusive, and unprofessional. Someone who visited before me said it perfectly: "That front desk person is the first face of your business. They represent your entire office. They may be great behind the scenes, but they should not be the one interacting with customers." Customer service matters - especially in an optometrist office. I hope this feedback leads to real improvement, because the rest of the staff deserves a better first point of contact.

I take my elementary aged kids to Dr. McGarvey and absolutely recommend. One child has had a more complicated process toward great vision and Dr. McGarvey has made sure we both understood "why" every step of the way. This review is mostly for ROBYN though. She is *so helpful* and kind. We once lost a pair of glasses on the first day of a vacation and had forgotten a backup. I called her to figure out some options and she made sure we had all the info we needed to have a quick replacement made on our trip. She has also made it so easy to understand and utilize our warranties. If you've ever waited on hold or for an email response from an online company, then her quick, proactive responses will change your world.

Absolutely love this office and everyone there. They are thorough, professional, knowledgeable, kind and always take the time to answer any questions or address concerns. We moved to Richmond, VA and couldn't find a practice with the same level of experience, knowledge and patient dedication so we made the drive so we could receive excellent care we could trust. If I could give 10 stars, I would!!!

I have been an eye patient at this office for years. I always order a year long supply of contacts because I receive a rebate. I usually mess up the rebate order and have to do it all over again. However, today, Erin and Denise took care of everything I needed and even gave me a stamped envelope already addressed to receive my rebate. The whole staff is amazing. CL

Always a five star experience! Office staff goes above and beyond to make you feel that they care! Dr Kapperman Sr has been treating me for many years. All the other doctors in this office are excellent also. Erin staff member is great!!! She helped me with the contacts I ordered. They are my top choice for eye care.
