Dirty exam room, exam room is in disrepair with wire channels hanging off the wall and antiquated looking furnishings, relatively poor attitude at the receptionist desk and they NEVER answer the phone! I truly don't even know how they maintain their patient base, let alone aquire new patients. If I were not relegated to use them because they are the only optomerest near me that accepts my insurance, I would NOT, let me repeat that, I would NOT use this office for any sort of eye care! If your insurance is accepted elsewhere, go there, not here!

I wanted to write this review because most of the reviews here are most than a year old. I had an easy experience with the folks at Coastal Bend Eye center, and perhaps they've gone through some staff changes for the better since the majority of reviews here.
I had no problem signing up for an appointment, the staff were courteous when I arrived. I knocked a star off because it was a long wait between my appointment time and actually getting in to see the Optometrist, but once I was in with her, it was a fast, thorough, and easy exam. Also, the long wait time is in line with every doctor's office I've visited in Texas, so maybe it's less a reflection of the office and more a reflection of overworked conditions. Lastly, paying and getting new lens & contacts ordered went as smoothly as possible. In short, they're a fine Optometrist office.

The visit I had was set up for me by the Veterans Administration (VA). I had no problem with personnel or the Doctor. However... the temperature in the office is my problem! I suggest winter wear because it's freezing in there! You may think I'm kidding but seriously it was Cold in there. Overall good experience. I give it "cool" .

The prescription They gave me there is not right I see double and foggy with the glasses they prescribed there so I'm wearing my old glasses although my old glasses are 2 years old I can see better with them.

Incompetent. Made initial appointment and then staff said they didn't have the appointment time the day I took off work to go. I even received confirmation calls for the appointment date. And the usual, "who did you talk to?' When they know who made the appointment because it is logged in the computer. They even had all the insurance info I gave them. Go to a real "Doctor" if you need eye care.

I tried to make an appointment for my family and cannot make one for both kids at the same time because of a policy. I tried to explain that I live far away and there is no one else that can take them but they wouldn't work with me. One adult to one child policy doesn't work for people who live far away and have to work.

3 times now I have made appointments. Each time I get a call late the day before telling me the doctor has an emergency and can not make my appointment, I will have to reschedule. That's been over a month now.

The doctor was incompetent and acted as if it was his first day on the job. Not to mention they were running over an hour behind schedule. Overall bad experience. Won't be back.
