OLD DOMINION EYE CARE INC

Can't even get them to answer the phone or return a message. It's been 3 days now and no returned phone call. Called at their normal business hours and got a vm and left a message with no type of response. Called again today, no answer. Horrible customer service.

Very busy little office. The front office personnel were busy, but always kind to those who were calling or walking in. Comfortable waiting area. And yes, I was there for 1.5 hours, but I didn't wait more than 15 minutes before being taken to the exam room to start the process of a comprehensive exam. It takes that long to have drops administered and all the tests done. Dr. Edwards was very thorough and personable! Grade A experience.

While the doctor was nice and I managed to get my prescription filled, I have a few complaints. 1) the staff were rude. They spoke loudly about other patients, including myself, mentioning my doctor by name and the phrase "I don't care if she has to reschedule, get her out of here" was said. I brought this up with the doctor and hopefully things have changed since. 2) they don't take vision insurance, they take health insurance. Just a heads up for future customers. 3) When I got my bill in the mail, they don't have an option to pay online. You have to write your credit card information on the piece of paper and mail it to them if you don't want to go in and pay yourself.

Good part: knowledgeable staff and doctors. Bad part: everything else. I needed a new eye doctor as Dr. Ryan retired and his practice has changed with many bad reviews. Old Dominion insisted on dilating, saying it was required which it is not (I checked with several other people). They also charged $180+ for the exam, another $35 for the glasses prescription and $150 for the contact lens prescription. So an exam that used to cost less than $120 was over twice that much. I also had to wait 1.5 hours past my time as they said half their staff just quit. I will not be going back.

Super helpful staff that fit me in twice when a contact ripped in my eye. Wonderful doctors. Efficient clinic with time management - a challenge for any office. Building has nice covered drop off area and a selection of glasses as well. The man fitting the glasses. Is really nice and helpful too. He confirmed my suspicion that my Walmart glasses aren't thin lenses I paid for. (Walmart insisted they were and charged me for thinning).

I have to have my eyes medically checked (not for just new glasses) yearly, and over the almost 30 years I've had this condition, seen many doctors. Dr. Edwards exam was as comprehensive as Johns Hopkins and he and his staff are knowledgeable and kind. I don't blame any doctor for not just handing out prescriptions without a full exam. I call that responsible.

I'm not sure what happened with the 1-star rating writers, but I've been seeing Dr. Weiler for a couple of years now and I think both he and the rest of the office staff are fantastic. I've had diabetes for 30 years and have been to a lot of different eye doctors over the years and I think Dr. Weiler is the best I've been to. His exams are very thorough and his diagnoses are well explained, adding things to watch out for and to be thinking about in the long run. I highly recommend him.

Deserves 0 stars if that was an option. I went in after my current glasses were destroyed in an accident to get a new prescription to quickly order a new pair to see again. I was not made aware while scheduling an appointment that any other procedures were apart of the exam. I asked to not do any of the other procedures and only receive my prescription offering to pay full price even without the further exams and the optometrist, Dr. Edwards, instantly took a very nasty tone with me and refused to release the prescription. I refused to be bullied into further testing I did not consent to so I left. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere where you will be treated with respect and get the services you need.
