My visit with Dr Tabassian was stellar as it always is! But the WAIT was WAY too long. I arrived about 9:15 and was not called for more than an HOUR! I was on the verge of asking if my name had been overlooked when they called me. The traffic in and out was nonstop. Are you scheduling too many appointments in a day? To wait that long and have to go through 2 more people before you get to the doctor is asking too much.
However, Dr Tabassian IS the best!!!

I went to have an epiretinal membrane studied/reviewed. I was shown pictures of the eye and had a detailed discussion about the pros and cons of having it repaired. He appropriately made it clear that the decision was mine and I had to decide if my vision was impaired enough to undergo the procedure. I decided not to procede.

About Ali Tabassian, MD
Dr. Tabassian earned a B.S. and Ph.D. with honors from George Washington University and an M.D. with honors from the Medical College of Virginia, where he completed his residency in Ophthalmology. He pursued a fellowship in Vitreo-Retinal diseases at the University of Iowa before returning to Richmond in 1996 as an Assistant Professor at MCV. He founded the Retina Institute of Virginia and remains active in teaching. Board-certified, he is a fellow of the AAO and a member of ASRS. His expertise includes retinal detachments, vascular diseases, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.
