Great work environment. I came in on a Saturday & was greeted by every Associate working this day. They were funny, welcoming, and friendly. The service was quick and the Doctor was very informative with my eye exam update. I always liked this location due to the area (tons of shopping) and the service. They have a huge parking lot. This area is very clean and well organized. I love they have the buy 2 for $89 deal. Very good option since I get 2 pair a year!!! I had no issues with my appointment and or pick up even with the delay due to snow storm. Very good store overall. The ladies were very great!
I had a 9:20 a.m. appointment at America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses on Sheila Lane in Richmond. Since they had just opened, I expected a smooth experience. After checking in, I was directed to the back waiting area where I sat alone for about 20 minutes. I could hear staff in the offices, but no one came out to acknowledge me or provide an update. A simple "We'll be with you shortly" would have gone a long way.
The doctor was very professional, informative, and pleasant -- I truly appreciated that part of my visit.
Unfortunately, my checkout experience overshadowed everything. The Assistant Manager, Victoria, was extremely rude and dismissive. Every question I asked was met with snapping responses, as if I should have already known the answers. When I calmly addressed her behavior and asked why she was responding that way, her attitude became even more hostile.
As a paying customer, I expect to be treated with basic respect. Professionalism should not stop at the exam room door. I would appreciate corporate reviewing this location's customer service practices. I would like to be contacted regarding this experience.
Tyler was extremely helpful. He walked me through the process, helped me find the frames that fit my face, and stay within my budget. He was knowledgeable about the products and optional add-ons. Overall, it was a great experience with quick service and friendly staff.
I'm always disappointed with something when I go in there. Someone always does or says something that they didn't used to do. For example and this is just me I suppose, my contact lenses are never in stock so I have to order them. Often I have contact lenses that I have one lens left and I have to wear my glasses. Wearing my glasses is a problem. So I go in I order contact lenses and I asked them if they can give me a trial pair so I can have contact lenses to where when I'm waiting for my lenses to arrive by mail, and the answer is now always no.
That's disappointing because I'm legally blind without my contact lenses and they know this they're not stupid. It's like they're trying to drive me off as a customer which actually they have. Okay so when I get my print up of my prescription the whole prescription isn't there, I usually get them to write me a prescription for an oasis brand and also at least expensive brand that they carry. The last time I got a sheet for the prescription number one it was a 6-month prescription only number two they only had one type of lens on it.
I'm not happy with the way I get treated.
My recent experience at America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses was extremely disappointing and resulted in both financial loss and very poor customer service.
I purchased contact lenses after an eye exam, but later learned that my exact prescription was not available in the brand being ordered. It appears the prescription was adjusted to match what was available, and this was not clearly explained to me at the time of purchase. After wearing the lenses several times, I experienced blurred vision and realized something was wrong with the prescription or fit. Since there is no way to discover this without opening and wearing the lenses, I returned to the store to request a refund. I was told I could not receive a refund because the boxes were opened, but I was assured that a credit would be applied to my account.
I later returned to have the prescription corrected and received trial lenses. I understood that once I confirmed the correct lenses, I would be able to redeem the promised credit. When I came back to use it, I was told no credit or refund would be honored.
One associate, Sauvonia, was very professional and genuinely tried to help. She spoke with the manager and followed up with me, and I appreciate her effort and customer care.
Unfortunately, my interaction with the General Manager, John McAvoy, was the opposite. He did not greet me, was dismissive in tone, became snarky when I asked reasonable questions about my returned lenses, abruptly walked away while I was speaking, and ultimately slammed his office door in my face in view of other customers. Several people in the store reacted audibly to his behavior. I have never experienced that level of unprofessionalism from a store manager.
I left without a resolution, without usable contacts, and out about $200. This entire situation could have been avoided with clear communication about prescription limitations and ordering options from the beginning, along with consistent and honest information about refund/credit policies.
Due to this experience, I will not be returning to this location and cannot recommend it based on customer service and issue resolution.
My 81 year old step-father has been using this company for decades. He came in on Wednesday January 14th asking nicely for them to adjust his older glasses ( which he purchased there previously ) while he picked up a new set.. He purchased the glasses there a year or so ago and generally had good experiences with them.
Victoria, was the name of the individual he worked with, and she was very rude with him - refusing to adjust his glasses because the glasses were an older model. Furthermore, he asked to speak with the manager, which she said - she was the manager. He ALWAYS bought glasses there, but never again.
I am extremely disappointed with this individual, as he was very upset with this experience. If she is the manager, she needs to learn a few things about respecting your elders and general customer service. I don't generally write bad reviews, but going forward I will be telling EVERYONE I know not to attend this business.
One of the most incompetent eye exam places I've been to. First they list VSP as a an insurance they accept, what they don't tell you is that they are out of network. No one told me this till I was there for my appt and had to pay a 20.00 copay when it should have been free if I had gone to a Dr that was in network.
At the time I had a stye, the Dr who examined me did not turn me away and therefore my prescription was off. I was told by her if I did have issues with the prescription to call in and get it adjusted. Sure enough the prescription was too strong in both eyes. After I let my eye heal I found this out when I wore the trial pair and tried to call in to have it changed. Per the recommendation of the Dr. This is when everything got worse. I have had to come in now two more times to get my vision examined and prescription updated, and each time I have been met with rudeness from the manger and the front desk woman. The most recent visit the new Dr asked I try contacts for stigmatism in my right eye. The contact was so uncomfortable I threw it out after wearing it for 2 days. I arrive to the final follow up so I can get my written prescription and order my contacts (after a month an half long process) and because I don't have them in the manager and front desk staff (same rudeness) tell me I can't be seen. And was told "we told you to wear them". I explained why I don't have them in and I just want my prescription to order my contacts without stigmatism they give me attitude and tell me it's their process.
I demanded to talk to the doctor and refused to leave until I can speak to him. The manager refused to let me talk to him, and said she would speak with him, not me and they have a process. Luckily the Dr has common sense and understands the nuance of the situation and gives me my prescription without stigmatism so I can finally order my contacts.
I have to say, this has by far been the worst experience I've ever had. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere that can competently handle customers and navigate situations where they have been at fault. Starting with going to a place that doesn't advertise VSP as an insurance they accept and not being transparent that they are out of network.
Miserable people. There is one staff member who is a gentleman that was very helpful who works on the floor and he got me trial contacts without stigmatism as a back up when the same front desk woman refused. The second Dr I saw was great and very accommodating and understanding . But overall their administrative staff needs an overall in customer service and transparency.
Great experience with Tyler. He was knowledgeable and educated me on my eye prescription. He was also able to help me choose glasses that fit my the frame of my face, which we know can be difficult when choosing the right glasses. He was personable and down to earth. Best experience so far at America's best. Thank you Thank you Tyler.
