Eye Care Center of VA

I do not care for the way this place is run. It feels more like being in a Lens Crafters rather than seeing an actual doctor. But that is a personal preference and not the reason for my low rating. At my last visit I was greeting by the optimist who was visibly sick -- red watery eyes and sniffling. Not to mention him telling me how miserable he felt multiple times during the exam. He said it was allergies but that he normally doesn't get allergies during that time of year and was not sure what he was allergic to. Of course I got terribly sick from this visit and being late in my pregnancy I was even more frustrated. I cannot believe the level of unprofessionalism and that the staff allowed him to see patients in the visible state he was in.

My husband had swelling over his right eye on the Friday before the 4th of July weekend. Dr. Outen was the on call doctor for Dr. Steven Busch. It was around 4:30PM and we called his office and he had left and made it all the way home and we would have to try on Monday to get an appt. I hung up the phone and we were making preparations to go to the ER when the phone rang and It was Dr. Outen. He was driving back to his office and asked it we could get to his office by 5:00PM. We said yes, and drove to his office and when my husband walked into the waiting room Dr. Outen said he knew what was happening with my husband's eye. He said my husband had shingles. Dr. Outen did what he could and gave specific instructions for us to see our Family Doctor the next day and he called and spoke with the Doctor on call and told him what to do to save my Husband's eye sight. Dr. Outen was an absolute Blessing to us in time of an Emergency need. He even drove back to his office to see us after he was already home for the long weekend. We feel Dr. Outen is one of the best Doctors in Midlothian and his experience has made him extremely knowledgeable and compassionate, and kind. Do not give a second thought to making an appt. with Doctor Outen. He is the Best. 5 Stars. Sylvia and Donald Habel

I called for an eye appointement, specifically asking to come in so I can get contacts, when I got there, I then learn they don't actually do contact fitting! I also asked if Anthem was accepted, not until after I was billed was I informed they don't accept vision insurance, only medical. What eye doctor doesn't accept vision insurance? Don't waste your time or money if you are a contact wearer and pay for vision insurance.
