My mom came to live with us unexpectedly and has a lot of health problems that we just didn't understand and no health records. We were referred to Dr. O'Keefe and we are very happy with our experience. Everyone of the practice is very kind and patient. He helped me understand my mom's eye condition and actually gave us hope. Previous doctors had told her there was nothing else that could be done for her. We appreciate the time he took with us. It was a good experience and we would recommend this practice.
I cannot express how happy I am with y'all. I was sent to see Dr OKeefe as an emergency by my optometrist. He agreed that my retina was in fact detached and I needed immediate surgery. The surgery scheduler saw me and sent me to Dr. Ali Tobassian straightaway. The nurses who pre opped me (Kiana and Jessica) were sooo nice, calm, and professional. The nurse anesthetist (Stella, maybe?) is an absolute angel. She explained everything, I met the anesthesiologist (cool guy), and they took me into the operating room. At one point I realized someone was holding my hand. I suspected it was Stella (I hope that is actually her name), and later found out it was. I wish she could've kept holding my hand the whole time, but I assume she had other things to worry about, so the fact that she took those few moments will stay with me forever. Follow ups with Dr T have been great- he's very knowledgeable, cool, and kind of funny, I think. Also, many thanks to Jo for getting my work notes/FMLA forms taken care of. Completely thrilled with you all, and I hope I never have to see you again.
I have been visiting RIV since 2013, when I had my first torn retina. Dr. O'Keefe has saved my eyesight numerous times from tears to detachments. I always enjoy my annual visits to make sure I have a good checkup and he is always great to talk to. He always provides good insights for my vision assessment and is happy to discuss any questions. Highly recommend him and RIV if you need any serious eye care.
Dr. O'Keefe is excellent. He took his time doing my exam, and diagnostic. Also, he did my procedure successfully. He is very kind, and knowledgeable. I recommend Dr. O'Keefe to everyone.
As always, I was treated quickly by staff who were personable, efficient, caring and professional.
Dr O'keefe, my retina doc, has the finest chairside manner I have ever seen. He makes you feel wonderful, remembers discussions from previous visits, explains his treatment and administers it quickly, painlessly and effectively. Each visit I get a shot in both eyes and actually look forward to my visit. The Retina Institute of Virginia has a jewel in Dr. Okeefe. He is the best. They are lucky to have him and I have been fortunate to be his patient.
Dr. O'Keefe, is nice, friendly, and reassuring. I never imagined having to get eye injections, and I still cringe when I think about it. Dr. O'Keefe was patient and had a very steady hand and made me feel like this was a normal procedure. The staff from receptionists and all the staff in between up to the Doctor are always friendly and comforting.
I was waiting for 50 minutes for my doctor (John O'Keefe) to come to the room and see me. I was very upset. The nurse came and asked if I want to reschedule my visit. No, hell, not. After my doctor finally showed up, he didn't apologize. I am (or I was) his patient for 13 years. Looks like it is time to find different doctor.
Per the usual, my visi, t like all before was excellent. Staff, especially Jennifer, were friendly, and helpful.
Dr. O'Keefe is the best, great " bedside" manner, thoughtful , personable, and clearly explains any ssues with your eyes,
