Island Family Eyecare

While on vacation on a trip to Bainbridge Island, the right hinge on the frame of my glasses broke and I could barely see. I somehow made my way to Island Family Eyecare and I hoped for the best. The woman whom I dealt with was extremely helpful and spent quite some time repairing my glasses. She did not charge me anything. I regret that I do not remember her name. This was in August 2025. She helped rescue my glasses and my vacation. She could not have been more helpful!

Today was my first visit to Island Family Eyecare. I made an appointment for an eye exam and the staff was extremely helpful and kind. When I came in for the exam I was greeted warmly and assisted quickly. The staff at the front desk were fantastic. The doctor and nurse were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. My eyes are in good shape, I only need readers for the fine print. I will continue to go to Island Family Eyecare for my eye exams. I highly recommend them.

I recently had an experience with Island Family Eyecare that truly stood out. During a recent trip, my luggage was stolen, and with it went my contact lenses. In a bit of a panic, I stopped by their office for help. The staff at Island Family Eyecare went above and beyond to assist me. They provided free samples of contact lenses to tide me over for the remainder of my trip. This act of kindness made a world of difference in a very stressful situation. Their prompt and compassionate response exemplifies outstanding customer service and genuine care for their patients. Once I realized I forgot my contact lenses at home mid flight on a late Friday afternoon, I sent frantic emails out to a handful of eye care stores in the area praying for a response. Island Family Eyecare came to my rescue! Alyssa was so quick to respond to message and let me know that she could give me some trials to use and would store them for me in a safe spot if I couldn't make it after hours. The only reason I'm able to even type this review and see what I am writing is because of them. Thank you x1000 for being so lovely and wonderful! If this experience is anything like what you would get with an eye exam, just know you'll be in great hands!

After scratching my contact lens and not being able to get it polished at my long term eye doctor's office, I checked with Island Family Eyecare. They told me to come in any time which I finally did. Cynthia took the lenses immediately, polished them, and sent me out the door with no charge. This is not the first time I experienced generosity from this clinic. At least 25 years ago, our daughter had a freak accident and a blob of cement ended up in her eye. Dr.Kirscher was able to see her right away and dealt with the problem, gave us a thorough explanation of what the issues were and how he was making sure there would be no lasting damage, and sent us on our way with no charge. Everyone there was super cheery and their new office is beautiful. I LOVE the fact that they have a great photo of a row of washing machines, a lovely homage to the laundromat that historically occupied their new location. What a welcoming place! Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.

Have been very happy with this place historically but after my recent experience I'm never coming back here. I ordered a pair of sunglasses. The frame color I wanted was not in stock. I said I'm perfectly fine waiting for it as I have a pair of serviceable sunglasses. I was told to go ahead and order a pair in a different color and once the color I wanted would become available I can come back and swap the glasses on the spot. I was dubious and asked multiple times if this was indeed the case and was assured that indeed it was. Fast forward to today. I get a call stating that the color frames I wanted are now available and when can I drop my glasses off for 7 days for the lenses to be swapped into the new frames. I said I was told there would be no wait and was told that there must have been a mistake. I donated my old sunglasses and these are the only pair I have now. Now I'm stuck with a frame color that I did not want.

I was vacationing on the island when my prescription glasses lost a screw. Seemed like i should go to Ace-- and they were great, but the standard eyeglass repair kit was a bust. (5 stars for the BBI Ace too) So I called Island and the kind woman said "oh man! That's terrible! C'mon over" So I did, thinking it works cost me $5-$10, but I'd get a solid fix... KJ looked the glasses over. Got the right screw, cleaned them...i mean deep cleaned them... And handed them back. No charge. The place has an awesome vibe and they live up to it. When I move too Bainbridge, i will be well served by Island. Thanks guys

What happens when you find yourself running out of contact lens in March--but your next eye appointment is in May--and you live in OR--and you'll be traveling in Europe in April? As a client of Island Family Eyecare--you need not worry. The Island team found a solution--and mailed the necessary contacts to me --within 6 hours of my cry for help. Who responds so quickly and efficiently? Who cares that deeply about a client? Turns out Island Family Eyecare (and a team member named Cynthia) does!
