Having vision in only one eye I was extremely nervous about having cataract surgery in my good eye. Dr Lewis was very supportive and understanding about my fears. He calmly talked me through the procedure and left me completely reassured that all would be fine. The surgery went perfectly, and I was so happy to have nearly 20/20 vision again after 70 years of wearing glasses!! Couldn't be happier about results!! Dr Lewis did an excellent job!!
I highly recommend Dr Lewis and the Walla Walla Eye Center!!
Update: Dr. Edwards for me in two days from my original appointment. He was very thorough in his explanation of my eye health and answered all of my questions in detail. I will be having my surgery with him. I can tell he cares about his patients health.
I would recommend him.
Waited over an hour and a half and still didn't see Dr. Edwards. I had to wait two months for the appointment in the first place. Disappointing.....Edit: I will say everyone in the office was nice to me. No issues with how the staff treated me. Dr. Edwards reached out to me and indicated they are down a doctor and had numerous emergency cases.
I was treated by Dr. Edwards for cataract surgery and am very pleased with the care that I received from him and everyone in his office! I am amazed at how clearly I see (20/15) at all distances, colors are now vibrant, and I can read with out having to use a contact. I opted for the Light Adjustable Lenses +, and am very happy with the results. It took several adjustment after surgery, but Dr. Edwards was very patient, listened to what I was wanting and was able to fine tune my lenses so that I can read clearly, work comfortably on the computer, and see perfectly in the distance!
Initially, Dr. Edwards took the time to explain the treatment options for cataracts, which allowed me to make an informed decision. Once treatment was started, he was very thorough and meticulous, explaining each step in the process, from the initial surgeries, through each adjustment and at every office visit.
I would highly recommend Dr. Edwards for cataract surgery, and I highly recommend the LAL+ lenses!! They are definitely worth the added expense and time needed for precise adjustments to get the best visual outcomes for you. I don't think my results or experience could possibly have been any better.
Thank you, Dr. Edwards and staff for a wonderful experience that resulted in excellent outcomes!! You were all very pleasant, encouraging, and helpful throughout the entire process!
Walla Walla Eye Center's staff is by far the most frustrating experience I had when trying to make an appointment. I have been trying to make an appointment to see Dr. Edwards since June and it is now November and I still do not have an appointment.
I was seeking a second opinion based on my family's very prominent history of glaucoma and I was recommended to Dr. Edwards at Walla Walla Eye Center. I called twice over a month period and left a message stating my name, callback number, and that I was hoping to establish care with Dr. Edwards and never received a call back. Finally, on the third call I got to a receptionist and was told Dr. Edwards was not accepting new patients, but I could see one of the other doctors. Not being sure I said I would call back regarding the other doctors. About a month later, the person who referred me had an appointment and discussed my situation with Dr. Edwards, and he agreed to see me to get a second opinion. I am very grateful that he was willing to see me and wish this situation would have worked out differently.
With the new information I called back again to make an appointment. They then said I needed to get my records from my other clinic. With how hard they have been to get a hold of I tried to at least get on the schedule even if it was pushed back a few weeks while I got my records sent over and they refused. I called my clinic to get the records sent over. My current clinic said I needed to get a release of information from WW Eye Center and have them fax it over and then they could release the records. So, then I call WW Eye Center... again. They say they have a form I should fill out at their office. This was very frustrating that they did not inform me of this when I called last time. I go down to the office and fill out the form. They said they would get it sent off later that day. Two weeks go by and I call my current clinic to ask if they had received the request, they said they have not and to give a call back in a few days. I do so and they still had not received it, they said they could call WW Eye Center but at this point I was so done with the back and forth at WW Eye Center I just made an appointment with my current clinic.
I have heard a lot of great things about Dr. Edwards and was excited to get a second opinion. Unfortunately, the support staff at WW Eye Center seems to be severely lacking. Between not calling me back on multiple occasions, not giving me full information during phone calls which prolonged the process even farther, and their lack of willingness to retrieve my records from my current clinic I could not imagine my experience with WW Eye Clinic getting any better. Every step of the process of trying to establish care was made so much harder than needed to be.
I want to highlight the support staff at Nielson Eye Care (my current clinic) for their willingness to help even when I was considering getting a second opinion. They were ready to put in extra work to contact WW Eye Center to try and get what they needed to release my records, and it is very appreciated. I highly recommend them.
Excellent.
I have been seeing Dr. Hanson for the last 10+ years and have been very pleased with his surgery skills as well as diagnosing/treating my various problems. My issues ranged from: blurry vision (various times and reasons) cataracts, macular hole in each eye, macular degeneration, and having a STROKE in my eye during the stroke.
I want to take a moment to tell you, you can have a stroke in your eye. I had never heard this. My other problem was I had no other signs of a stroke so I was going to wait another day to see if it would get better. I waited an hour and a half before calling the office to see if I could see the doctor. After all, what could he do.
He determined I was having a stroke right now (although I felt fine just couldn't see out of the right eye). He told me to go straight to ER and he would call ahead and let them know what was happening. I was rushed in and given the vital injection need and then was air flighted to Spokane. Unfortunately, I lost the vision in my right eye, but the immediate action he took helped the clot from moving through the rest of my body. DO NOT WAIT.
Conclusion: Dr Hanson is skilled in all these areas and I could not have asked for better doctor for my eyes. His staff from the receptionists to the tech staff are skilled, professional, and friendly. They all have supported me with their caring.
Dr. Edwards is very personable and has outstanding communication skills and listens to his patient's concerns. He always went the extra mile to help me understand my options for intervention so I could make informed decisions. My experience over the last three years with him doing cataract surgery in both eyes has exceeded my expectations, and his hospital staff is well-trained in his protocols and caring before and after surgery to make the experience positive. Highly competent and highly recommended!
THANK YOU to Dr. Edwards and the incredible staff at WW Eye Center. I had such a positive experience getting my cataract issues resolved. Everyone, from front desk to examine rooms, to surgery scheduling, were professional, personable and kind. I live in Dayton and they considered the drive time when scheduling appointments, making it convenient for me! Any planned surgery can be a bit nerve racking but they provide such adequate information that you feel completely informed and confident. Surgery day was simple, and the follow up appointments were thorough and they listened to any of my concerns and addressed them. I have no trouble honestly referring people to the clinic!!
Sincerely
Vicki Z.
