I'm very disappointed with my experience at the Holmen clinic. We were told glasses would be ready in two weeks. After hearing nothing, I called at three weeks and was told the frames were lost in shipping -- something no one contacted me about. I was then told they would be expedited, but we are now at four weeks with no glasses. My son needs these for school, and the lack of communication has been extremely frustrating. I came highly recommended, but this experience did not meet expectations.

Just had my 70 year old eyes examined by Dr. Fisher this week. I've been seeing Dr. Fisher for 15 years or more. It's nice to have someone who has historical context with your vision and overall health progression. Dr Fisher's staff performed the standard array of tests and imaging (without the pesky dilation) leaving time for lots of discussion and final examination. I feel like Optical Fashions is focused the condition of my vision and not just selling me frames or lenses. I'll stay with them and suggest you try them too

Our family went to Optical Fashions for a few years and they were fine. Our insurance changed so we switched providers. My 17 year old stopped by herself to get her prescription but it had expired. They said they could get her in the next day and the appointment would be covered. While she was on the phone with me, they stated to her that it was covered because I told her to ask again since I thought coverage has changed.
Fast forward three months they billed us for the exam because our coverage changed. Since it was their mistake I thought maybe they'd reduce the cost or eat the price of the exam since she got new glasses. Nope. When tried to negotiate they wouldn't budge. Then they waited for my child's 18th and billed her and threatened collection.
That's a good way to lose a family of customers over a $200 visit. I just paid to protect my child. Our insurance coverage has changed back, but of course we won't be using Optical Fashions in the future.
They had also treated my minor child without written consent.

I see Dr. Garbrecht. She is BY FAR the best optometrist I've ever worked with. I have numerous and unusual issues with my vision, and she is doing a WONDERFUL job of assisting me in working through them. She is SO, SO knowledgeable. Most doctors' eyes glaze over when we start working together. Not this one. She really knows her stuff! I highly recommend this doctor, and this facility.

About Optical Fashions Eye Care Clinic Holmen
Optometrist Charles Vaslow started his own optical business in 1962, opening a small practice in downtown La Crosse on Jay Street. There, the doctor watched as the field of optometry grew as did LaCrosse and he soon added more doctors to his staff. Dr. John Hoehn joined him in 1977 -soon followed by Dr. Thomas Culver. In 1989, the name was changed to what is now known as Optical Fashions. In 2004, the practice moved from its long time location on Jay Street to where it is currently located at 2104 State Hwy 16. Although the original founder is gone and the other partners have retired, Optical Fashions is still thriving in our Coulee Area.
