Walmart Vision & Glasses

The "name brand" place where I originally purchased my (extremely expensive) frames assured me I'd be able to get lenses for them as my prescription changed. That's the only reason I bought expensive frames. When the time came, they gave me all kinds of runaround. They pulled out every trick in the book to hook me into buying another set of big money frames. I took my prescription and walked out. And I won't be back. I called Walmart Vision in Lake Geneva and asked if they could put lenses in my frames and the delightful young lady said "no problem." I went in and she traced my frames, took my prescription, and I paid. She said my new lenses would arrive in a week to two weeks. It was barely a week later when they called. I went in and there was a different lady there but just as nice. She put my new lenses in and I'm happy as can be. I ended up with top of the line Nikon lenses at a much better price than just the standard lenses at the other place. I was in and out of there in a reasonable amount of time both visits with no pressure to buy more, more, more, bigger, bigger, better. MUCH better experience than the other place.

Walmart Vision has a 12-month replacement guarantee that covers broken or damaged frames or lenses. According to Melissa the manager, paint chipping off the side of the frames after only a little over two months is not considered damage. She tried to tell me it must be because I have a metal allergy.... I asked her to explain to me what chipped paint would be considered if not damage, and she couldn't come up with an answer. Apparently I should have stepped on them and destroyed them completely and then she would have been happy. They did agree to replace the frames as a "one-time courtesy" but when I got home I noticed the tech Josh had damaged one of the lenses.

I've been going to this office for about 6 years for both glasses and contact lenses. The prices of the exams and the glasses are hard to beat compared to other offices. They do often run behind schedule, but if you bring a book and are prepared for it, it's not at all unmanageable. I actually think they have improved in this regard since the pandemic started, since they seem to be scheduling fewer patients at once in order to comply with social distancing protocols. You can wait a little while for walk-in service as they are a little understaffed, and this may be what many of the 1-star reviews are based on. Melissa knows what she is doing! As for the doctors, try to get Dr. Yang if you can. He can be a little blunt at times, but that's because he's a no-nonsense doctor who won't beat around the bush with you. He's very knowledgeable and knows his stuff, and has found mistakes my previous optometrists have made regarding my vision and eye prescriptions. The other guy ... not so much.

I have been going to this Vision Department since August 2015. I have been really happy with the personal attention and accomdations that the staff have given my family and I! Melissa (manager) and I have learned over time that my eyes are very sensitive to my eye glass frames and lens positioning. She is very knowledgeable (12+ years experience) and very patient to do what it takes to get my glasses just right! I highly value this team and appreciate their personal touch!!

This place exceeded all of my expectations! Everyone who checked me in and did my preliminary checks were super friendly and personable. I really felt like Dr. Richard Yang cared about my health and my well being and he took the time to explain the pros and cons of different contact lens types and the underlying reasons why I may have had a poor experience with one type and that may not be the case with a higher grade lens. Dr. Yang is also an all-around friendly guy, I felt like he struck the perfect balance between staying on task and making me feel comfortable with small talk. I felt like with my last eye doctor (a private practice in another state), they were just trying to sell me on lasik and didn't really care about my health or my needs at all and just rushed the exam when it was clear I had no interest in getting the surgery yet, and so I was really happy that I didn't have the same experience here and everyone really seemed to have my best interests in mind! The facility was also very clean and you could tell they not only care about your eye health, but about your health as it pertains to COVID as well. They had signs to signal to other employees there which areas had been disinfected already and which areas still needed that before the next patient could enter. I really appreciated all these precautions.

Mad an appointment n June and was told when I got to my appointment in July that I couldn't buy glasses - only get an exam. Wasted trip! Got a call last week from the vision center telling me I could now get glasses. Got there today only to be told I only had an appointment for buying glasses - not an exam. They called me - they set up the appointment - and they didn't bother to tell me what they were scheduling me for. I will NEVER use them again.

We waited 40 minutes minutes PAST our appointment time. Everyone moved around really slow and it was very clear they didn't care how far behind they were. The lady who appeared to be the manager pawned off the customer she was working with on someone else so she could have a 15 minute conversation with her friend. Very unprofessional.

Very poor quality glasses. The glasses I ordered broke several times, and are not scratch resistant, per order, at all. Always have to wait a long time for anything here. Never again!!
