The woman that did my intake and initial exam was absolutely lovely. So that made it all the more disappointing when the doctor felt more like a shady used car dealer than a medical professional. I have never felt so bullied, or judged for wanting to purchase glasses elsewhere. I opted to forgo a contact prescription because I was so uncomfortable. Now I have to pay out of pocket for another exam or wait a year. So upset that I wasted my annual on such an unprofessional woman. I will not be back and will encourage everyone I know to go elsewhere.

When I arrived and they told me about the extra $40 charge for the mandatory retinal imaging they do instead of using eye drops to dilate the pupil, I should have left then, but I figured that was about the value of the time for me to set up an appointment at Gundersen in Hillsboro and drive there and back. I then had a standard contact lens checkup, which normally ranges from $0-$40, but here I was charged $200 which was a shock being so much more than at other places (it's free at Gundersen in Hillsboro). After the appointment when I asked for my contact lens prescription, they tried to sell me their contact lenses, and I said I would think about it, but I just needed my prescription at that time. They then made a spiel about supporting small businesses, and that if nobody buys local then businesses will close. Yes, I know how that all works, I don't need it explained to me. And then the cherry on top was a few weeks later I got a bill in the mail saying my insurance didn't cover all the cost of my routine eye exam. I had to call my insurance company, and they said it was coded incorrectly for a routine eye exam, and then I had to call Diplopia to have them change it, and it got corrected. But if I hadn't double checked, I would have paid another few hundred dollars. So, the exam itself was fine, but everything else was terrible.

This was the best, most thorough eye exam I've ever had. All of the staff are attentive. They have a unique selection of frames and helped me select just the right ones. I've been to other places for eye exams and walked out the door with glasses I couldn't wear. These glasses gave me great vision from the moment I put them on. Thankyou all at Diplopia!
