Drishti Eye Institute,Dehradun

My sister, had cataract surgery at Drishti Eye Institute in Dehradun on 12th December 2024, done by Dr. Gaurav Luthra. The surgery worked, but we had a big problem with how they communicated about the lens. The Good: The surgery was successful, and my sister’s vision improved a bit. They gave a detailed bill (see attached). The consent forms (attached) were clear and in English and Hindi, explaining the risks and benefits. The Big Problem – Lens Type Confusion: We asked many times about the lens type because it’s permanent and can’t be changed later. First, they said we’d get an expensive lens (Rs 80,000) not available in India. Then, they said they have lenses from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,00,000. A lady consultant also said we’d get an expensive lens (Rs 80,000). But after the surgery, the bill showed the lens was only Rs 8,500 (IOL Pack, see attached bill). When we asked why they used a cheap lens, they said my sister’s eye condition wasn’t good for a better lens. They never told us this before the surgery, even though we asked so many times. We feel they just wanted us to do the surgery at their hospital and didn’t tell us the truth. Advice for Others: If you plan surgery here, ask everything clearly before: What exact lens will they use, and how much does it cost? How much will your vision improve after surgery? What happens if the surgery fails or vision doesn’t improve? How does your eye condition affect the lens choice? I’ve attached the bill and forms to show what happened. Overall: The surgery worked, but they weren’t honest about the lens type. We chose this hospital because it’s famous for eye care, but we’re very disappointed with their communication. Be careful if you go here.

My both eyes cataract surgery are done under the supervision of best hospital in dehradun. I am happy with staff. they are very efficient in their work. Every things and procedures are explained well and in proper manner. I am satisfied with my outcomes after the surgery. I would like to thanks all doctor's team also for their great job. It was good. I had no problem. I had trans prk surgery and it has improved my vision surprisingly well. Dr. Amrita was excellent. Her behaviour towards her patients is really nice and the staff was supportive and helpful too. Service is excellent for all type of patients. They are really caring.

From the initial consultation to the post-treatment follow-ups, he ensured everything was explained clearly and thoroughly. Dr. Lathura’s calm demeanor and professionalism instantly put me at ease, and I felt confident I was in good hands throughout the process. The hospital is well-equipped, clean, and efficiently managed. The staff is courteous and responsive, which made the entire experience smooth and stress-free.

I want to share my experience with drishti eye institute. I got operated for my vision correction and spectacles removal surgery. I went for this surgery for my medical exam. My vision after the surgery is 6/6 without glasses. I am happy and very satisfied. Thanks to doctors and their team. I wish all the very best for their work. Inequitable Treatment of Panel Patients: Despite adhering to scheduled appointments, both my uncle (previously treated under the ECHS panel) and my mother (current patient) faced disproportionate delays during their cataract surgeries. On both occasions, they were assigned the final operative slots despite their status as panel beneficiaries. This recurring oversight raises serious concerns about the clinic’s prioritization protocols for panel patients. If accommodating panel beneficiaries conflicts with operational priorities, transparency about discontinuing panel services would be preferable to repeated instances of diminished care. 2. Parking Infrastructure Challenges: Additionally, the clinic’s parking facilities remain woefully inadequate. During my recent visit, I was forced to circle the premises eight times before securing a spot—a logistical hurdle that adds unnecessary stress to patients and caregivers alike. This persistent issue warrants urgent attention to align with the clinic’s reputation for quality care. I trust you will investigate these systemic concerns and implement corrective measures to ensure equitable treatment for panel patients and improved accessibility. I welcome the opportunity to discuss these matters further and remain hopeful for a swift resolution.
