East Alabama Eye Associates, Inc.

This was a very wonderful experience up until the point that my glasses are being held hostage! Apparently, until I pay a $60 balance....This is after I already paid 600 dollars for said glasses and contacts. My husband also is a patient of this doctor. He suggested I see him too. That was a mistake. I could totally understand if I owed the majority of my balance or something of that nature. But 665 dollars... again I paid the 600 the day of my exam. When I went to pick the glasses up, they were sunglasses. He blamed me for the mix up. I just laughed it off and tried to be nice. He shook his head and said he'd let me know when to come back to get them. I had Apparently missed their call and when I asked his receptionist if I could pick them up and pay the balance of 65 at the latest, next week. I am a disabled American and therefore do not have money like this. I have to pay what I can when I can. She said no and asserted that the money must be paid before I can get my glasses..... like i said, it's literally peanuts compared to the total paid already! It's just rubbed me wrong all together. Like I wasn't going to pay them!? My husband has been seeing this dr for years now! We always pay him! So what's with the attitude? Why hold the glasses hostage over such a small thing? Honestly I couldn't begin to guess why they handled me in this manner. I like a dr that makes me feel cared for, understood, and tends to my needs. Thoroughly and actively being good to their patients. As they should! This may seem like nothing to some people but it really upset me. I thought people should know.

I had a great experience. The doctor was very nice and understanding. He had a good sense of humor as well. The lady at the desk was very kind and helpful!

Very unprofessional and unclean. Unfortunately for me, this was the first place I called, and since they were in network, I went. Windows are dry rotted out (as noted in a review from 8 years ago) and the OD who owns the practice is rude. Did not take enough time on my eyes. Luckily I am double insured, so I went again to another more reputable optometrist. Guess what? Different prescription. Do not go here, especially if you aren't double insured.

Nice enough people, not a lot of wait time, but they always seemed a bit unorganized. Didn't ever give me my prescription so I could buy backup glasses or contacts from someone else. My last visit there, I knew my insurance covered a pair of glasses AND contacts, but they billed me for the contacts saying insurance only gave me an option of one or the other....I had to make them double check it and I was correct. Incorrect bill was dropped but it was just too much hassle, thank goodness I knew better.

To start of Dr. Fields didn't even introduce himself when he came up to me in the waiting room. He just grabbed my head and tried to put in some eyes drops without explaining who he was or what he was doing. Then when I pulled my head back he became agitated with me as if I was getting on his nerves. Then during the eye exam, he said these exact words, "why can't you people just schedule your appointments in the morning?" I scheduled my appointment by the times that were available. He did everything in a rush and didn't really tell me anything because he said he was confused about my eye exam. My question is why did I waste my time and money going there if I was leaving with more questions than answers? How are you an eye doctor but can't tell me about my eyes after an eye exam? Dr. Fields was very unprofessional and I will not be returning there and I recommend that if you're looking for actual help, go somewhere else.

I took my son this morning to have an eye exam done because he had one done at school and they detected a problem. I showed Dr. Fields the paper from the school and he said those were worthless (I don't doubt it) but as soon as he knew my son was in there for that he just exploded! He seemed very angry and made my 5 year old son so uncomfortable when he said he would put some eye drops in his eye that he wouldn't like because he was not "doing the exam properly" that my son started to cry. I then explained to Dr. Fields that my son was the sensitive type and threatening to put eye drops in his eyes scared him. He told me that my son will have a hard life because of his sensitivity! Seriously!?! He was so unprofessional and rude that he shouldnt even be allowed to see children for eye exams if that is how he acts! I will never come back to this office! By the way, the two women who were the receptionists was very friendly and very professional!

Go to PREMIER EYE ASSOCIATES. The team at East Alabama eye associates was so nice and kind to me. Everything went downhill when I went back and saw the doctor. He put his hand on my inner thigh while he preformed my exam. I was wearing shorts and too scared to tell him to stop (I weight about 100 pounds and Dr. Fields is about 3x that size) I told him one of the slides showed light refracting in different ways and he raised his voice at me and say "NO. THATS JUST A HALO". That's when I shut down and refused to speak and just wanted my contacts. Considered hiring a lawyer because I felt violated, but I just let it go. Don't go here unless you are prepared to be TOUCHED INAPPROPRIATELY BY AN OLD WHITE MAN.

Super nice and friendly!! My time here was fast and surprisingly fun! I'm usually terrified of doctors (especially anything to do with my eyes) but Dr. Fields and his staff were very nice and I really enjoyed going there! I will for sure return again!!! :)
