After years of seeing Dr. Dobbs he has retired and I had to randomly choose new doctor to see and I picked Dr. Jones who ended up being a GREAT pick. He was so knowledgeable, patient, kind and had a great listening ear. He took care of all my issues even lowered my prescription which has helped tremendously with my vision I'm able to see perfectly clear without the headaches I can wear my glasses all day and night with no issues I'm so thankful to him for that. Also can't forget about how helpful and knowledgeable Mr. Jack was in the optical center he didn't pressure me to shop there instead he was very patient working with me to pick the perfect glasses and kind enough to let me know any issues I have to come back and see him anytime. I LOVE 20/20 optical I've been a patient there for years my mom and I both.

There is no more 20/20. my Dr has already retired and his partner will be leaving this coming year. This is now called the River Region , and there will be no MD on staff. No one to do the surgeries so I am told. For me this changes the whole dynamics of the word Eye Doctor. Why should I continue to come to this River Region Clinic? I really don't trust the changes.

My father had a wonderful optometrist here for about 25 years with no issues. Dr. Dobbs, Dr. Young, and staff were very professional and pleasant. Upon his doctor's retirement, they scheduled his appointment with the new doctor. For the appointment, there was an accident on the highway and we arrived 12 minutes late to the appointment. They refused to see him. I apologized for the inconvenience and rescheduled. For the new appointment, we made sure to leave our home very early to ensure they did not cancel the appointment. In the inclement rain and weather (while on the highway), we received a call about 30 minutes before the appointment to cancel the appointment. They lacked empathy for us having to drive and refused to see us with another doctor on this date. Considering they were so strict and dogmatic about being 2 minutes past the late time, you would think they would have been more prompt in letting us know that the doctor was sick. This is unacceptable and I feel like they truly did not want my father as a client. Sad.

I and my wife have been using Dr. Young at 20/20 for some time. Dr. Young did cataract surgery a few years ago on my right eye. We thought very highly of this practice. In December of 2020 I became ill (heart issue) and was placed on a respirator for five weeks. When I finally woke up I was partially paralyzed. My right leg was and is still not usable, but I am regaining use of it through physical therapy, now able to stand on both feet and walk some with the use of a walker. My wife and I had an appointment with Dr. Young for a routine eye exam as we both need a change in prescriptions. On the particular day of our exam we left home and drove 53 miles in the rain for the exam. When we arrived the rain was still falling, even harder than when we left home. We waited, hopefully for the rain to stop. It did not. Since I am still wheelchair bound, with no cover to get the chair out of the trunk, so we could stay dry, along with my inability to move fast to the exam office, I decided to reschedule for a better day. I was told that if I canceled we would have a $25.00 each cancellation fee to pay before we could reschedule. I reminded the person that the only reason I needed to reschedule was that I was crippled and could not move to the office without getting soaked. That made no difference to her. So, I told her we would not be back. We made another appointment with another doctor to have our vision corrected. This time in our own locality. N Ed & Maureen Weaver

I'm 36 years old, and I have used 20/20 my entire life as my father had used 20/20 since before I was even born, I suppose. Donald ran the glasses shop, and I first met him my first visit back in 1989. Now his son-in-law runs the shop most of the time, but the whole outfit is personal and family-like. I also love how they still have the practice on Narrow Lane Road for those of us who still live in traditional Montgomery.

When I lived in Montgomery the only ophthalmologist I would see was Dr. Young. I was always treated well by the staff, Dr. Young himself is very professional and there is no doubt he truly cares about his patients and his work. Also, Ms. Carol who handles in-house contact fitting, ordering, etc. is very patient and kind and taught me as a 13-year-old boy how to properly wear my contacts. I miss the ease, accuracy, and professionalism of this practice; I have yet to find any practices in my area that I have been to that provide me even a fraction of the pleasure I used to experience from 20/20 Ophthalmic Associates and Dr. Young.

I wear corrective glasses, and had gotten my first pair in the summer of 2009, because I experienced terrible headaches after reading for extended periods of time. As soon as I got my first pair of glasses, my headaches ceased and I was able to generally function normally. In January of 2011, I was referred to 20/20 Ophthalmic Group by my OBGYN, because I was experiencing a disturbing anomaly in my vision. When I visited 20/20, I told the intake nurse of my vision problems, and expressed concern that what I was experiencing at that time might be a 'migraine aura', brought on by my need of new glasses. The nurse told me that pregnant women shouldn't get new glasses, because of possible vision changes due to fluid retention. She told me that though I could get an eye exam for new glasses during that visit for an extra$25, that I should wait until after the baby was born. The doctor at 20/20 dilated my pupils, looked at my eyes, told me there was nothing wrong with me and sent me home. I drove myself home without any protective eyewear after dilation. After my visit to 20/20, I continued throughout the rest of my pregnancy to experience terrible, debilitating migraines. A few months later, in the summer of 2011, I called 20/20 to schedule an eye exam for new glasses. After they quoted me a price of $125, I told the receptionist at 20/20 that day that I would not get an eye exam there because my previous ophthalmologist's prices were much lower. The next week, while getting an eye exam at Hour Glass Optical from Dr. Floyd, I told him how I had put off getting glasses because what he nurse at 20/20 had told me about pregnancy and fluid retention, and about how I had been experiencing these terrible headaches since then. The doctor told me that fluid retention leading to vision changes was a very rare possibility, and that because of my headaches, I should have been fitted for new glasses the day I had visited 20/20 in January. Dr. Floyd fitted me for new eyewear, and I have not since had a headache while wearing them. Shortly after my visit with Dr. Floyd at Hour Glass Optical, 20/20 sent me a bill for $60.00. I called their office, explained how I had been underserved, and refused to pay the co-pay. Their 6 month billing delay was never satisfactorily explained to me. I finally was forwarded to their office manager, who refused to offer any accommodation, and insisted I remit the $60.00. I again refused. She sent my account to collections, and now I have a smudge on my credit report due to this office's negligence!

When I first got my eyes checked I went to a chain shop. The prescription was not good and would strain my eyes. My mom said go to 20/20 so I did. Great advice they are so nice and professional. The prescription I got from there was perfect. When I eventually wanted contacts they showed me how to use them. Very patient! Over 10 years and I'll never go anywhere else's.
