I've been a loyal customer of Americas best for four years now. The first two years were fantastic, with excellent customer service and timely updates on my orders. Unfortunately, my experience started to decline last year when my glasses were held for over two weeks without any notification. I had to reach out multiple times to find out what was going on.
This year, I hoped things would improve, but I'm already facing delays again. It's been almost two weeks since I placed my order, and now they're telling me there's another week-long delay due to the holiday. This was never mentioned at my initial appointment, and the communication has been frustrating.
To top it off, when I called to confirm my order, the customer service was unhelpful and even claimed there was an issue with my phone number, which has been the same for years. This level of service is disappointing, and I will be switching to another provider after this experience.
Please read all the reviews that's why they have an average of three stars and specifically pay attention to their last year and how bad their customer service has declined.
The Dr that preformed the exam was great, absolutely friendly and pleasant. However that being said the rest of the staff out front acted as if it was an inconvenience to help me and that I was bothering them by being there. I asked questions about cost with insurance and could not get a straight answer so I got the cheapest most basic glasses and went elsewhere for a nice pair of glasses. This is specifically for the Irvington location but the interactions I had with them resulted in me not ever going back.
Customer service here is terrible , this is my second year coming here and the last. When I walked in the workers were busy with their own conversation instead of greeting me back. They prioritized talking to each other about not business related topics instead of tending to anyone. They got upset that I wanted to buy my glasses else where after getting my exam here. Not sure if it's because they make commissions , either way they aren't entitled to my business especially with the treatment I received. Go across the street to target optical instead don't waste your time here
Negative 1 star (update below)
I was extremely disappointed with my recent experience. The exam was rushed, and the manual eye health portion was completely skipped. When I called to report this, Anjelica on the phone insisted, "Oh, the doctor would never skip the exam," even though she absolutely did. She did not listen to me, and I doubt anyone else who calls to raise concerns is heard. She was defensive, protecting the office instead of addressing the real issue, even though she didn't experience the half exam or the warped glasses herself.
I don't know if the prescription is accurate because the exam was rushed and missing steps, and the glasses themselves are terrible. They look like a warped fishbowls-both lenses. How is that not a mistake and a sign of sloppy manufacturing at the least?
I canceled the recheck because I have lost all trust that they could handle my son's prescription safely without ego getting involved. Mistakes should be corrected, and wrongs made right. You do not get defensive and assume you are flawless while the patient is wrong.
The doctor was very kind and sweet, but she forgot the manual eye health exam. Was it purposeful or accidental- doesn't matter. Staff should not behave as if the doctors are invincible, and immediately dismissing concerns. Because of Anjelica's attitude, I did not feel comfortable risking a recheck and nee glasses. Even if the prescription were correct, the glasses themselves are of poor quality.
When we picked them up, it took three weeks, and the staff member fitting them did not actually check if they fit properly. My son said they felt okay, but they were loose when he moved we later discovered. She was talking to another employee the entire time instead of doing her job of ensuring fit. I trusted them to do their job, and when they don't, it's incredibly frustrating.
I am not someone who complains for nothing or tries to micromanage. No i sit back and I allow people to do their jobs and do them minimally correct. I trusted this office, and they failed. I am out $140, but it's better than risking my son's eye health. Reading other reviews, this is clearly not an isolated experience. Four years ago, this location was okay, but now it has clearly declined. Looks like management is allowing this culture and way of operating among staff with no consequence?
Time for a customer service overhaul, a standards expectations conference, and then monitor for some major improvement, or else!
UPDATE: So Eddie the asst. Mgr wasnt present as he said hed be when i went to return my sons glasses, and then he made my refund check out to my minor child despite asking my name. So it took a few weeks of back and forth via email when the manager, Monica V. (Thank you! btw) finally fixed it for me with corporate. I finally got my refund today.
So, they fixed it all in the end, and its only right i say so.
It was easy to schedule an appointment online and the optometrist suggested reading glasses as needed. My glasses came in when they said they would and they always answer the phone. At my previous eye doctor in Green Valley, they wouldn't return phone calls nor did they help with eyeglasses even though that option was available at the office. At this office, they helped with eyeglasses. I appreciate this and the fact they answer the phone.
Rushed. Trial Contacts never came in. I am not confident in my new prescription and I already received my new glasses and ordered Contacts (from someone else) with that prescription. Haven't used new glasses. Been using my old ones. Just going to wait next year to definitely go somewhere else. I'm sorry, their staff tried, but not sorry. I am uncomfortable going back to try to correct everything. Worst eye exam/ getting glasses / trying to order Contacts experience.
The staff was professional and efficient. My appointment ran on schedule. The place is clean, well lit, and they have a large selection of inexpensive frames. I don't know why there are complaints about pricing, I got a great deal for an exam and 2 pairs of glasses.
I'm not one to write a review but thought this was necessary, I usually go elsewhere for annual eye exam but thought I'd try American Best due to it being closer to home, that was the worst mistake. Never in my life have a seen a provider that takes 2 minutes to complete an eye exam, long story short I did not feel comfortable knowing how quick that was so went to my usual eye office the following day and come to find out my eye prescription that America's Best gave me was off. Also, same day I brought my daughter to get frames and when in the lobby a gentleman came to pick up his new glasses and heard him say this was his second time coming due to them not putting the correct prescription in his new frames, that is a RED flag and not allowing my 6 year old to get frames here and if that would to happen to her. Do not come here its worth taking the longer drive away from home for better care.
