Dr.Dechant and staff were so gentle and caring towards our 2 year old. She has been terrified of the eye doctor due to a bad experience at AZ eye consultants but the entire team made us feel comfortable and really tried to make the visit as easy and non traumatic for her. We appreciate all they did for us and will be returning customers.
The 2 stars are because the staff is very friendly. Other than that, there is little good to say about my experience. I had an eye exam done in order to get some good reading glasses to replace my 2-dollar glasses. I then spoke to the optometrist and chose some frames to fit the prescription. When the glasses arrived, I soon found that I couldn't see anything through them, and they gave me a splitting headache when I tried. My wife had the same eye exam results as I did, so I tried on her glasses and found that they were perfect. I took mine back and told them that I'd like the same type of lenses as my wife had, and they agreed to have them changed. When my glasses arrived, I once again found that they were completely unusable. They were again returned, and we were told that they didn't work because my wife and I had very different vision. This was the opposite of what the doctor had told me initially. Plus, her glasses were crystal clear for me. This makes me think that my prescription was mixed up with someone else and the glasses were being made to a different prescription. I was able to return the glasses, but I have now paid for an exam that provides the wrong assessment of my vision. I now have to go somewhere else and pay for another eye exam and glasses. I would definitely not recommend them based on attention to detail. Overall, this was a very disappointing interaction.
I was a new patient and from the time I entered the service was impeccable. I'm a big stickler on customer service and I will say from the smiles to the greetings they had me before I even saw the doctor. The first point of contact was professional and efficient, just very smooth. Was called back in less than five minutes of entering. Again, very professional, greeted with a smile, a great greeting and a genuine sense of caring. The first point of contact was a technician to do the preliminary testing for the doctor and she explain every step in great detail. Very impressed! Took me to the patient room for a couple more test with the tech and then was told that the doctor would be right in. Yup, 3 minutes later Dr. Amy came in, greeted me like we knew each other for years. Made me feel so comfortable. I did have a eye problem that developed recently that had me a little worried and Dr. Amy made me feel relaxed and that there was nothing to worry about right off the bat. She is amazing, explained and showed me exactly what was going on with my slight blurred vision in one eye and made sure I knew it was nothing even remotely serious to make me feel better through her whole exam. I'm telling you, I'm 60 years old and been around and this is the first time in a vision center that I felt like a true patient and not looked at for $$. The explanation of all the tests, the showing of the pictures of my eyes and telling me my eyes were good with all the explanations, they were not perfect but not trying to sell me a prescription that was not needed. I use readers and she explained my insurance and what they pay every year. I asked her since a prescription wasn't needed could I use my insurance benefit for good readers with the right strength in each eye instead of the $20 pair from walgreens. Took me to the optician and we found a pair that my insurance covered and I will have a great pair of readers soon.
My experience here was just awesome!! I would definitely recommend this business if you want great service and awesome knowledgeable doctors, along with very knowledgeable opticians that were never in a hurry and never a "just buy those" mentality. They really cared!! This place definitely deserves a 10 out of 5 in my book and that says alot coming from someone who holds very high standards!!
Thank you Dr. Amy and your team for the utmost professionalism that you and your team showed this patient!!
My family has been coming to Family Vision Center for years. We love to see Dr Jeffrey Horst and spend THOUSANDS of dollars there annually. In light of two terrible experiences in the past six months, we feel the need to seek care elsewhere and to educate the general public about the pitfalls of visiting this office.
1. May 2025: An optician whose name I don't recall was generally rude and refused my requests for assistance from another employee. He bent brand new Tom Ford glasses by hand in an attempt to fit them for me, noting that he "really shouldn't do it this way" as he did it. Suffice to say, they were a mess and he insisted they were fine. Never in my life have I had to LEAVE a business in order to contact a manager to address my concerns, but that was the position I was in.
Office Manager Kylie followed up via phone quickly. She was kind and said the employee would be spoken to (known issues there), BUT I still had to wait two weeks for my glasses to be repaired. Nearly $600 and five weeks for glasses... I' m honestly surprised we decided to come back.
2. December 2025: I booked appointments for myself and my partner online in November. Then I realized it was a bit too early for my annual exam. I called the office on 11/20/2025 and spoke with a receptionist to cancel my appointment. She verified all of our information and let me know when I should book my eye exam next year. We were all set for my partner's appointment on December 5th, and I would re-book at a later date. That is until we arrived today...
I've attached photo confirmation of my partner's appointment. He received both texts and emails, BUT when we arrived for his appointment today, we were told it had been given away because it was never confirmed. What? How did we not confirm it? We have all these communications...? The front desk staff admitted it must have been a system error, because his accounts had all zeros listed in place of his phone number. Odd considering he did receive text messages the past few weeks/YEARS without issue... So how is this going to be resolved? Can you fit him in? Not one, but two people rearranged their schedules for this appointment, and the blame for this issue does not lie at our feet. Not to mention, we've got a birthday coupon we'd really love to use before it expires...
The behavior of the Front Desk staff is really what led me to sharing this review. I cannot get over the appalling customer service of one woman in particular. After sharing that there was no way to squeeze us in and we couldn't get another appointment for WEEKS, we shared that we would need to seek care elsewhere (gotta use up those FSA funds before the end of the year). The dark haired receptionist's reply? "Great! Let's get your account deactivated then."
Wow. Clearly you don't want our business (and have zero empathy for your fellow human beings). Although I am sorely tempted to share this person's name on the internet, I am endeavoring to be the bigger person. I know that a lot has changed in this office since a change of ownership last year, but you're only as good as your people. I can book an eye exam much sooner and pay too much for fancy frames elsewhere. I think you should as well. Give your money and time to a business that will treat you with respect and courtesy, NOT Family Vision Center.

Dr. Horst has given me exceptional eye care for more than a decade. The front desk staff and optical technicians are friendly, efficient, and helpful.
I visited FVC to get CRT lenses for me and glasses for my daughter. Good selection of glasses, friendly staff, verry good doctor, and they have all equipments to get what I need done.
Very nice office. Both my wife and daughter recently had exams and got new glasses/ contacts here. I wish I'd found them before my last appointment. It's a little out of the way for us but the staff and facilities made it worth the drive. Friday's seem to be kinda busy and both visits had longer than average wait times but the staff apologized and the great experience made up for it. The machine that allows them to check you eye without dilation is a good send for migraine sufferers and kids. Wish it wasn't an extra charge but seems par for the course.
Our family has been going here for years and have stayed here... which is a testament to how much we love being patients here. Great staff; professional, friendly, and easy to talk to.
