We went to Dr. Thomason's clinic for vision therapy. Due to a crossed eye, my little girl struggled with reading and writing. We were eager to receive help. After 4 months of weekly visits and hundreds of dollars of vision therapy, we saw no progress. During that time, we were not given any homework and the majority of her therapy involved playing games with a therapist who did not have formal credentials. While sitting in the waiting room one day, I met a dad whose son had been going to vision therapy at Dr. Thomason's clinic for over a year. The father told me that his son's vision test results had actually worsened over time. When my daughter was re-tested to track her progress, Dr. Thomason told us (in front of my impressionable 8 year old daughter) that, "She is just a bad speller." That negative comment sent me on a quest to find a more empathetic doctor and a more qualified therapist. I'm happy to report that Centerton Family Eye Care was a MUCH better fit! Within six months of vision therapy with regular at home exercises from Ms. Susie, my daughter went from a second grade reading level to a sixth grade reading level (confirmed by MAPS testing scores at our local school). She is now 9 years old and reads and writes beautifully without any help (and I'm happy to report she is an excellent speller, as you can see in the photo attached). I normally don't leave negative reviews, but I felt compelled to write one for other parents who are looking for real solutions for their kiddos who are struggling with vision issues. I highly recommend Centerton Family Eye Care.
