I had eye surgery with Dr. Besser yesterday and had my follow-up today. He is very thorough, knowledgeable and friendly. He happily answered all of my questions. He was also very proactive in calling me prior to the surgery to answer questions.
Sonia, the surgery scheduler, is much more than that! She is also extremely helpful, friendly, patient and knowledgeable. It is easy to work with her around complex issues like cost, billing and scheduling multiple, timed appointments. She also knows about how to prepare for pre and post surgery.
One thing I especially appreciate about Dr. Besser and his practice is the many undergraduate and post graduate student he has working there part-time so they have a fantastic learning experience for getting into med school or other types of higher education. He teaches them all about the eyes, how to use the very sophisticated equipment. It seems to be part of his mission to pass along his knowledge.

He might be good but has a front office made up of what looks to be money hungry wolves. AVOID. They OVERCHARGE you using insurnace deductible as an excuse. I always go to my specialists and only pay my copay as I have a PPO, but these guys pretend to be the insurance deductible police and charge extra using that as an excuse. Total thievery and SCAM. Their office manager was too scared to even talk to me after overcharging my wife and then not letting the doctors see her when they were about to over charge her a second time.
Made me wait an hour on hold and then they just didn't pick up the phone.
Oh and my insurance has no record of them charging extra for a deductible! AVOID!!!

Excellent Ophthalmologist Dr. Besser, M.D. is! After researching half a dozen eye doctors in the area that my insurance would cover, I chose Dr. Besser because of his education, professional background & good review of his service online. I was worried because I came across reviews that did not have good things to say about his administrative office & that there were very long wait times. So, I made sure to schedule the first appointment of the day and to connect personally with the front desk staff ahead of time to input all of my personal & medical record information. I was very pleased with the intake process. Friendly & helpful staff both on the phone & in person, a very developed digital registration process (completed before appointment, which saved a lot of time) and a very satisfying eye appt. with Dr. Besser. He is very knowledgeable. He provided in-depth answers to all of my questions and showed me images of the eye so that I could better understand what he was communicating. I do recommend him. I encourage you to do the same thing I did and get the first appt. of the day and call ahead of time to sort out all details before walking through the door.
