I've visited Helmus twice in the last month, once for my annual exam and again for a stubborn stye and I couldn't be more impressed. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted warmly by front desk staff.
The clinical team is top-notch. Huge kudos to the MAs, Eva and Margot, who were both so knowledgeable and kind during my pre-testing. I saw Dr. Spilman and Dr. Zada, and both were exceptional. They are incredibly thorough and truly took the time to ensure all my concerns were addressed. I also love that they use top-notch technology, which gave me a lot of confidence in the health of my eyes.
Finally, I worked with Veronica in the optical department to get new lenses for my existing frames. She really listened to my lifestyle needs and designed the perfect lenses for my day-to-day use. I 100% recommend Helmus for anyone looking for high-quality eye care!

Wowie! I had a really nasty eye infection I was able to get in to see the doctor at Helmus, and I'm so glad I did. The doctor was professional, personable, and an excellent communicator. He and his lovely technician were fabulous! I can't wait to go back to get a prescription for eyeglasses. Shout out to the lovely receptionist who made sure I was able to secure an appointment.

Deeanna was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in helping me get fitted for some glasses that are not uncomfortable (most are uncomfortable for me). She really listened to what I needed and wanted and clearly knew her inventory very well. She didn't try to push me in any direction or override what I said was important to me. It is clear she is very, very good at her job. It was an excellent experience working with her to find just the right fit glasses and sunglasses.

I have been going to Helmus Optometry in Davis for the last 25 years. At first I saw Dr. Mark Helmus. When he retired I started to see his daughter, Dr. Julie Helmus. I was always treated with the highest degree of professionalism and care by this office. Prior to the eye exam, I was tested with several sophisticated pieces of equipment which I had not been offered at other offices, including a camera for photos of the retina. I also appreciate not being pressured to order new eye glasses immediately after the appointment. I have had the occasional eye appointment at other offices and I can truly say that I have always received the best attention and care at Helmus Optometry.
