This is one of the places that jumps to their default answer "No" to everything! I came in to get a copy of a prescription, just to be treated like a nuance, saying I will be charged $25 for the next request before they even assist me! One time some associate (obviously new) said I could not get a printed hardcopy but instead had to take a photo of her screen with my phone! She refused to print a copy. Outrageous. A more senior associate came by and corrected her.
To sum up my experience...
Lenscrafter Menlo Park = default "no" answer, even when it makes no sense.
I came to Lens Crafters needing to get my lenses put into my new frames, and John was very helpful and quick! He got it done in less than 5 minutes and did it for free! I definitely will be returning - the service was great and you can tell they care about their customers.
This feedback is about one staff member at this location, not the store or brand overall.
I arrived 20 minutes late and apologized multiple times. I was willing to wait, but the staff member kept criticizing me unnecessarily, referred to me by my appointment time instead of my name, and wrongly insisted I had the wrong appointment for a contact lens exam. Despite my repeated apologies and agreement to wait, the constant criticism made me uncomfortable, so I decided to leave.
I hope the store encourages this staff member to communicate more respectfully with customers in the future.
This review is about the store staff; not Naileen Chand the optometrist... She is great, I would give her and the eye exam people five stars
The two people working the store are terrible and very unprofessional... I asked them about the LensCrafters cyber Monday promotion which had 20% off contact lenses... The lady in the store section said they are not linked so they cannot do the same pricing... I mean it's the same company you can't even price match your own store?
Then I mentioned there's an additional 15% off Rakuten cashback offer for cyber week... The lady then went to go ask the man and he came over and told me a lot of of the things I see online are potentially "scams" ? I mean the cyber Monday promotion is from LensCrafters own promotional emails and website... And you have the nerve to talk to me like I don't know how to use the Internet?
The lady kept telling me that VSP was out of network, and I had lower benefits, and she kept on trying to convince me to buy eyeglasses when what I really needed was contact lenses.
VSP is among the largest eye insurance programs in America... It would be funny that it's out of network for what I thought was the largest eye eyeglass and contact lens chain in America (LensCrafters)
I'm avoiding LensCrafters in the future and I would recommend everyone else do so
Again this is not a review for Dr Naileen Chand... she is great
I had a very disappointing experience at this optical store and want to warn others.
On my first visit, both the Chinese lady and the male staff member who helped me were very kind and professional -- this review is not about them. They were polite, patient, and made a good first impression. Unfortunately, the person who handled my case on the second visit was completely different, and that is where everything went wrong.
During my first visit, I was told they couldn't find my insurance information. After that, I contacted my insurance company and confirmed my VSP insurance details, including my ID and card. When I returned for the second visit, only then did they tell me that the store is actually not in the VSP network, which explains why they couldn't find my insurance in the first place. This should have been clearly communicated from the beginning.
What made the experience even worse was the staff member's attitude during my second visit. They blamed me for supposedly "not answering their phone call the day before" to provide updated insurance information -- but I did answer, and I have the call record to prove it. They simply ignored this fact and continued insisting it was my fault.
Throughout the interaction, this staff member was impatient, unprofessional, and repeatedly implied that I was "wasting their doctor's time" and making it difficult for them to run their business. Instead of trying to help, they acted annoyed and treated me as if I was causing trouble.
Overall, the attitude was cold, dismissive, and extremely unhelpful. If you value professionalism, clear communication, and basic respect, I strongly recommend avoiding this place.
Avoid this store.
I had a very poor experience with the staff and manager at this store. I entered the store at 5:20 PM, and the store hours clearly stated that it was open until 6:00 PM on December 31st. Despite this, the staff were extremely rude and unwilling to help. They immediately said they could not assist because it was New Year's Eve and they wanted to go home early. I was told to use my insurance next year instead.
If the staff were unable or unwilling to help customers, the store should have closed earlier instead of wasting customers' time. I was also spoken to rudely and told that I should have visited the store two weeks earlier rather than that day. The staff closed the shutter at 5:40 PM and asked us to leave, even though the posted closing time was 6:00 PM. The manager then drove his car away right in front of us.
If the store was not planning to remain open until 6:00 PM, this should have been clearly communicated. We could have gone to another location and used our insurance instead of having our time wasted.
I had such a wonderful experience at LensCrafters! The staff were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and patient throughout the entire process. They helped me replace my daughters glasses.Their professionalism and attention to detail truly stood out. Thank you for making this such a pleasant experience--I'll definitely be coming back and recommending this store to others!
The optometrist at this location is lovely. Very thorough and encourages questions. The staff at this location is unhelpful, can't be bothered, and likes to pivot to gaslighting when possible. Just skip this location and go directly to Valley Fair. They actually want to help their customers and provide service over there.
