I've come home to Optica for my eyeglass and contact needs. The professional, personal and straightforward way they communicate cost, options, and expectations is refreshing. I've been with them for a couple of years now, everyone from the front desk to the fitters to the docs are helpful and competent. this is what an optometry visit is supposed to be.

I took my soon-to-be four-year-old for her first ever eye exam, as I received my annual check up. Optica always take good care of our family. They were especially patient on explaining my options for progressives.

I've been going to Optica for about 6 years now, and I've never had a complaint. Even moving away from the area hasn't stopped me from continuing to see them for my eyes. Highly recommend their office if you're looking to care for your eyes. Cheers

Pretty bad experience. Told them I want a refraction test - they said we need to do your annual eye exam. i said I can come back for that - today I just want a refraction test to see if my power has changed. they said we can do an annual eye exam. They kept repeating these words robotically as if they wanted me to say yes to this so that they can claim this from insurance company. The pulled up my insurance and said your insurance covers "annual eye exam". i calmly said i just want to check if my prescription power has changed - they said yeah sure we will do an annual eye exam It was like a kafkaesque situation. Generally I don't want tests to be done on me that I don't need. It's almost felt like they want to send people down a particular path to make insurance claims . Go to a proper doctor - not a commercial establishment (selling glasses and contacts in the front office) - where the doctor care in the back office is merely a way to upsell into other stuff. Anyway I suggest avoiding this commercial minded kind of place that feels like rife with conflict of interest.

I normally don't leave reviews, but I feel like I need to warn others about what I believe is a shady business practice at this office. I have a VSP plan called Covered Contacts, which explicitly covers a full year's supply of contact lenses after my copay--no matter the brand or cost. I've used this same plan for the last 3 years at two different optometry offices with no issues. After my visit, I got a call from Lynette at Optica telling me that my insurance would only cover 9 months of contacts, and that I had to pay an "overage fee" of $250. She then immediately pointed out that I could submit for an Acuvue rebate to "get back" the $250 in the form of a prepaid card. This didn't sound right, so I called VSP directly. They confirmed (again) that my plan covers the full year's supply after copay, period. VSP even told me that if the office was confused, they should call VSP for clarification. When I told Optica I wasn't going to pay the $250, they suddenly said they would "cover it as a courtesy." But that's not a courtesy--it's just using the insurance I pay for. They then doubled down, saying that this is their office policy and that the contacts truly aren't covered, so the office would "have to eat" the $250 on their end. In other words, their office policy is to ignore what the insurance actually covers and try to shift the cost to patients. To me, it looks like Optica is charging patients an unnecessary $250, pocketing the money, and making them jump through hoops with a manufacturer rebate just to get it back. The rebate process is slow, requires mailing paperwork, and the refund comes as a prepaid debit card with an expiration date--not cash. In short: VSP says my lenses should have been fully covered, but Optica tried to bill me anyway. That's unacceptable. If you have VSP and go here, double-check everything with your insurance directly. I personally won't be returning.
