Griffin & Reed Eye Care

I have been a client/patient of the Griffin & Reed Sacramento location for nearly 20 years. The entire team is outstanding but this specific review is for the staff in the optical boutique. I recently broke my one pair of glasses, which I am dependent on for my job as a professional writer. Since I foolishly did not have a backup pair and was facing several impending deadlines, I was in a panic. I headed over to Griffin & Reed in the hope that they could help. Donna took calm and instant command of the situation, and within minutes I walked away with my existing lenses installed into new frames. I was so relieved. Subsequent to that, both Derek and Inger, respectively, handled my order and fitting of new glasses with great care and expertise. In addition to this recent experience, I have also received excellent service from both Jeremy and AJ in the optical boutique. These people are simply the best in the business.

Got LASIK done after years of thinking about it. Dr. Maboudi and crew handled it as if they know a thing or two about it. That is to say, it was like clockwork and aside from the buildup and all the whatif thoughts about having your eye worked on, it was over in less than 15 minutes and I was already seeing clearly. Next day, I was able to drive back no problem. Still early on, but I am very confident that they did a good job. Absolutely mindblowing.

I would put zero stars if I could. I have never reviewed a place before, but there's a first for everything. Do NOT come here or book here. There was a mix up with my appointment BECAUSE of the front desk lady in Sacramento, and I went to the Roseville location after being booked in Sacramento, and I work in Sacramento so it was completely out of my way, only to be told I was booked in sac. They rescheduled me the day after to 8:40 at the sac location, I'm a little late, I call the morning of and let them know I'll be running late, the lady on the phone confirms my appointment time to be 8:40. I arrive, after having been in Roseville that morning, and after having driven 45 minutes for this appointment, and the lady at the front desk was the most rude disrespectful and unprofessional person I've ever encountered in a clinic setting. I walk in and she tells me my appointment was at 8:20. Im extremely confused because I called and the woman on the phone confirmed that my appointment was at 8:40. The woman at the front desk said "we assume the patients know the time of their own appointments" as if, she's not managing the front desk and as if, she's not the one that's scheduled my appointment. There was no apology or accountability, she blamed me, and gave me no option other then waiting for a cancellation or reschedule for the third time, and when I expressed my annoyance, she says "Ill go ahead and cancel everything" being very degrading and disrespectful . I have never encountered a more or unprofessional or disrespectful person in a clinic setting. Do not book here.

I have a good doctor who seems pretty thorough. They charge $15 for medical records and they don't give electronic records. This is the only place where I've been charged for my records. They've overcharged me once or twice for appointments and have had to send me a check.

I truly don't even know where to start. I am forever grateful to Dr. Kim and his amazing staff. Starting from the front desk and ending with the assistance in the back and surgery schedulers. A big thank you! I was not a candidate for Lasik, but Dr. Kim reassured me that PRK is also a great option just more down time and patience for that perfect vision. Everything was so thorough and detailed from the explanation of the procedure to the medications and when to take them on a columned sheet of paper, with details on even the color of the eye drops so that no mistakes are made when using them. Sugery was smooth and quick, recovery was a bit rough for the first week only. The eyes are just very sensitive to any type of light for the first few days and vision is blurry while the eyes heal. I am lucky to not have had pain, only mild discomfort when the Lense bandage came off a week later, grainy feeling in the eyes for just a few hours that went away and never came back. I didn't even notice how quickly my vision became perfect, we get used to good things so quickly that we forget to stop and acknowledge the changes. I am in absolute awe of just being able to see the smallest details far away and feeling so blessed to have eyes that see without glasses or contacts for the first time in over a decade! I also do not have any dry eyes as some say you get after these procedures so that is also a huge bonus! I would not even hesitate and have this done and wish I didn't overthink it for so long.

I went to a different eye doctor for a Lasik consultation and was told that based on my age it was not a good idea for me. I decided to go for a second opinion a year later to Griffin & Reed, and I am so glad I did. I had the surgery this month and could not be happier. Dr. Kim is amazing and I wasn't nervous at all thanks to his incredible bedside manner and the wonderful staff! Highly recommended even at someone who is almost 55.

Amazing team and experience! Dr. Maboudi was very thorough throughout the process and answered all my questions--no matter how many I had. She did an excellent job during the operation also and guided me throughout each step. I really appreciated their individual approach, starting from the free consultation they offer to determine LASIK eligibility. At other places I visited, I didn't even meet the actual doctor who would perform the surgery, and they conducted fewer tests than Griffin & Reed. That played a huge role in my decision-making and gave me peace of mind. The surgery, along with the pre- and post-operative care, went so smoothly that it felt like a true holiday for me--I even did it on Valentine's Day! Some of my coworkers had LASIK 10 or 20 years ago at the same place which gave me even more confidence in my choice. Once again, Dr. Maboudi, Sabrina, and the entire team--thank you so much for your assistance and for making the procedure so seamless. I don't know all the names of the assistants, but you are all amazing, and I'm so happy I went through this anxious procedure with ALL of YOU. Highly recommend!
