Every time my father has an appointment at this eye clinic, we end up waiting a very long time to see the doctor. He uses a wheelchair and always has a scheduled appointment, but we still have to wait. Each visit takes about two hours from start to finish for a simple check-up.
We are often told that they are very busy and have many patients, but appointments should be scheduled in a way that patients don't have to wait this long. It is especially difficult for someone in a wheelchair to sit and wait for such an extended time.
I hope the office can improve their scheduling and be more considerate of patients' time.
My elderly 88-year-old mother is a patient at this clinic who we routinely take for appointments. Lately her mobility has been declining and it's been difficult bringing her to appointments. After doing some ordered labs, We called the office three times to ask if our follow up appointment regarding our labs can be done via telephone. Dr.Liu's MA consistently insisted that we need to have an in person appointment. After bringing my elderly mother early to the appointment scheduled, we were not seen at our scheduled time. After waiting 20 minutes past our appointment time, we weren't informed and told by the front desk that we should reschedule our appointment because the doctor is not able to see us on time and we were not seen because my elderly mother could not spend so long at the appointment. We have consistently encountered issues with wait time but are being very affected now especially after calling and requesting accommodations for her disability that were not met. Do not recommend this office or staff.
Had a pretty good experience in the beginning but day of surgery was a disaster. Check in time was at 2pm and they called me 10 minutes before check in time to tell me they had to cancel the surgery and that we would have to reschedule. I waited 2 months to have this surgery and had to drive over an hour to get there. 3 family members rearranged their schedules so I can be there day of surgery. Not to mention setting up my leave of absence with work and filling out paperwork. This office didn't even submit my paperwork properly. They forgot to fax over page 1 of my docs. I had to reach back out to their office to request that they re fax my paperwork for my claim. I was supposed to receive a packet for pre surgery and post op instructions however their office failed to mail me those docs and I had to call to request the packet. Yes, I was upset about the cancellation of my surgery and I had an attitude and a tone about the cancellation of my surgery and because of this their office told me to go somewhere else. Appointment was scheduled for November 3rd and they couldn't get me back in until December 15th but because Linda doesn't have thick skin she couldn't handle my displeasure and told me "it's not our fault your eyes are so bad!" She also said "if your not happy with our office you can go somewhere else!" She had no care in the world. Totally unprofessional.
I shouldn't have to pay out of pocket for services that are covered by my eye insurance. I won't be going to this practice again. This used to be a single doctor's practice. My first visit here after it changed name, I knew I wanted new prescription sunglasses, so I was looking at those while waiting for my annual exam. The optician looked at my eye insurance benefits to guide me to the covered brands. When I received a bill for my exam, I was shocked to learn that they do not accept eye insurance. What kind of eye care practice does not accept eye insurance?!? No one bothered to inform me while I was there that they did not accept my eye insurance. They seem to be more interested in making a profit than truly helping patients.
UPDATE: Just want to clarify that Dr. Sierra provided me with an extremely valuable second opinion after I had some vision challenges following cataract surgery with Kaiser. My experience with Dr. Sierra was totally positive and she went way above and beyond to help me out.
Everyone at Sacramento Eye Consultants was helpful, kind, and professional. It took a little while to get in, but if you call about cancellations, you can get in sooner. The workup they did to evaluate my eyes was incredibly thorough.
Meeting with Dr. Sierra herself could not have been more valuable. She's so sharp and thoughtful. She listened carefully to my complicated history and offered really good, helpful advice.
Ultimately, she concluded that one of her colleagues had some relevant experience, and he also gave me advice. I'm with Kaiser and had been considering doing an additional procedure out of network, but their final advice to me was to go back to Kaiser to get what I needed.
I would recommend Dr. Sierra and Dr. Wu to friends and family as they are excellent doctors and I would completely trust them to protect their patients' best interests, even when it means sending away business. I couldn't be more grateful.
This is one of the best medical experiences I have ever had. I am a retired teacher, and my vision is again as good as it was my first year in the classroom -- it's amazing. Dr. Sierra, my surgeon, was skilled, professional, and caring, and a great communicator to boot. All of the specialists and office personal I dealt with at Sacramento Eye Consultants have been top notch too. I can't recommend this medical group highly enough.
I had my cataract surgery done by Dr. Sierra couple months ago. She was very through in explaining the procedure and the types of lenses and what would be best to go with. Since my surgery my vision feels normal and I am so happy with the result.
The office staff were nice to me during my office visit .
I would definitely recommend Sacramento Eye Consultant to my family n friends and anyone looking for eye surgery or second option.
Thank you Dr. Sierra.
I have been working with Dr. Sierra and the staff for a few years on a variety of vision problems, and they are simply fantastic! Dr Sierra is the best physician and everyone on staff is efficient and they make you feel cared for. After this last cataract surgery, my sight is back to perfect and I couldn't be happier!
