Dr was great each time. Communication is not great here. They cancelled an appt I had for a long time because they scheduled it wrong in their clinic in person previously. I complained to patient rep and they got me in for the tests. Communication about results is lacking with staff.

It only took 3 weeks for a referral from rural California. 4 years later I still have my vision in my right eye! They have any excellent staff. They work well together to benefit each patient. They are great teachers. They have created a positive,healing environment in their new facility. And,to face this & deal with covid for 4 years?? They have any outstanding respect for the safety & well being of all staff & patients. And,THEY ARE A LATEX SAFE FACILITY!!

If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. I'm only giving this five stars so that people will actually read this--just like I read the reviews and expected something positive when reaching out to this doctor for a referral. Unfortunately, the experience was anything but. They denied a referral request for my dear friend without any warning or communication whatsoever. She was left completely in the dark, expecting care that never came. To make matters worse, they claimed her insurance wasn't compatible--even though it absolutely was. This kind of negligence and misinformation is unacceptable, especially when it concerns someone's health and peace of mind.

EDIT: If I could separate the patient/ appointment system from the staff, I would. My doctor and team are thorough and professional. FIVE STARS. It's just hard to believe how impossible it felt to make contact with this department without driving in person. So many incredible leaps in outreach, etc. Way to go! I (ironically, because of vision being in question) drove from my little town to Sacramento to schedule an appointment in person. I had spent over five hours on hold over three days waiting for someone to pick up. Scheduling through mychart was not an option as I'm not established with your office yet. The office person said there have been issues for a while with the phones. The brand new office is beautiful and impressive. The disconnect with patient-centered care? Feels like a lot of ego at UCD. What do families do who can't take time from their jobs to sit for hours on hold only to have to take three hours to drive to the gorgeous new facility to schedule... months out I might add.

While the doctors at the Eye Center are adequate, the rest of the experience is awful. I have never had an appointment that lasted less than 4 hours, my worst appointment was 6 hours. They take you right in, put you in a room and there you wait... for hours... and hours... There is no cell service available once they take you to a room, so no phone calls, texting or even just scrolling through your phone. No matter what day or time I have made my appointment, the wait is too long. It's difficult to make an appointment and then when you finally get through and get to your appointment, it is basically an all day event. The service is not worth the wait.

Not sure what all the negative reviews are about...there seems to be a problem with the phones? If you're a part of the UC Davis system, you get a referral from your primary, and they call you to set an appointment. I've had no trouble at all. In fact, the staff has been pretty spectacular.

They will not answer the phone. I have a referral for a sty that needs to be removed. It is painful and affecting my vision. I called patient relations and was told they have heard this is an issue and not even they can get through on the phone lines. OUTRAGEOUS AND POOR MEDICAL PRACTICE. MULTI_MILLION DOLLAR BUILDING WITH THEIR NAME ON IT, Tschannen Family might have invested in new physicians and staff before worrying about how the building looks. Patient care should the main priority before all else.
