Dr. John H. Sullivan, MD

I don't typically write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience due to the exceptional care I received. Dr. Sullivan is an outstanding physician with extensive knowledge and expertise. He helped me avoid an unnecessary procedure that was previously recommended by another doctor, and he has supported me throughout the recovery process for a very serious and complex eye condition. Beyond his medical skill, Dr. Sullivan is an incredibly compassionate and caring person--qualities that are rare to find in today's medical field. I also want to recognize the amazing front office staff. A heartfelt thank you to Shay, Cathy, and Judy for their kindness and support. Additionally, Dr. Shankar is a fantastic doctor as well. I highly recommend this clinic and its exceptional team of professionals.

Thank you Dr Sullivan, I brought my mom in today for dry eye with a lump near tear duct. You gave several recommendations and then applied pressure to the mucus plug. You told her it should drain. Sure enough on the way home, it did. Lump is almost gone and dry eye has improved. We are getting her new eye glasses and this 90 year old is getting back to her routine. Big thanks.

Dr. Sullivan is one of the best Ophthalmologist in his field, I am extremely grateful for his expertise and vast knowledge of rare conjunctivitis and other eye conditions. I don't think the 1 star reviews that him/his staff have gotten are true; I have gone to see him 4 times, both while I was within his network's coverage and when I was not and paid out of pocket -- he is the best ophthalmologist I can find in the Bay Area -- I had went through 13-14 different optometrists/primary care provider/ER physicians/ophthalmologists from Valley Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, and Stanford Medical before seeing Dr. Sullivan. Dr. Sullivan was the only one who could diagnose me properly and was extremely patient and understanding / willing to listen to me explain my eye condition and actually being empathetic and caring. I would highly recommend anyone to see him if you are suffering with any form of severe eye condition, you don't see a lot of doctors in the medical field with over 59+ years of medical experience -- that says something. Thank you Dr. Sullivan and all of the wonderful staff at Eye Medical Clinic, you all are absolutely miracle makers.

On 8/31/22 I visited Dr. Sullivan's office for removing a growth in my lower eyelid. The procedure went smoothly and the results were remarkable. Throughout the procedure and based on my request, Dr. Sullivan told explained what he was doing and how it was progressing. He set the gold standard for bedside manners and how to treat each patient as an individual. Dr. Sullivan's office staff and friendly, professional and courteous. I would highly recommend this doctor and his clinic. Thank you Dr. Sullivan.

Dr. Sullivan is excellent. I came in with a corneal abrasion, visited multiple times and always got a clear understanding of my condition and treatment options. Dr. Sullivan is cost conscious, down to earth and always willing to answer a question. Highly recommended!

have insane athsma and a Dr's note saying that I SHOULD NOT WEAR A MASK. I showed them the note and they said okay. Then I pay, do my eye exam. Etc. Waste 1.5 hours of my time. And then last second before I see the actual doctor they tell me I have to wear a mask for the doctor to see me. Even though I already did my eye exam. Without a mask. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE I am not an anti vax anti masker, I am a normal person with very very sensitive athsma with a doctors note!!!!!! It makes no sence !!!!!!

Their website and receptionists are misleading. They both informed me that Dr. John H Sullivan is a glaucoma specialist as well. But after wasting my time in paying them and seeing them, this doctor is just a regular opthalmologist and does not specialize in glaucoma at all. What a waste of my time, my money and my insurance's money...

He is the Best, my two eyes are perfect Now, I had in my eyes a white tissues that it grew for over three years & it has been over a year since my operation with Dr. Sullivan & I haven't had no problem!! Thank you!
