The office was kind enough to get me in quickly for what I considered an urgent situation. Excellent physician and kind receptionist. Dr. Barsoumian spends the time needed with each patient - no rushing. Sometimes the office can run behind but any wait is worth it. They charge fair cash prices as well.

Similar experience as another review here, which I wish I had read before going. Dr Barsoumian missed a symptom here which was later found by a different ophthalmologist. Full story below. I was with a relative of mine who was visiting US and had a sudden deterioration of vision, with floaters and blurriness. The ER at El camino Health, Mountain View told us that they dont have an Opthalmo on site (only Stanfird and Valley care do) , and refered us to see Dr Barsoumian the next day. Dr Barsoumian saw her , said he couldnt see much , no tear, and even though her eye pressure was normal, gave her drops to reduce it further. He said she could fly back home in a couple of days if symptoms didnt get worse. No further referrals or treatment were suggested. Chatgpt (and a friend's friend who is an opto on the east coast) said this didn't make much sense as a treatment path, and her vision did not improve - so I took the patient to the Stanford ER next day, where the friend's friend's friend is an Ophthalmologist. The Opthalmologist on call at Stanford said he could see at least one tear, and referred us to a retina specialist. The retina Specialist (At Byers Eye Institute, 15 mins drive from Stanford ER) also confirmed the tear, and said we needed to stabilize the tear with a laser retinopexy within the next 24 hours, else there is a real risk of detachment during travel, which wluld require a full blown surgery. He did the laser treatment at Byers the same day. I'm glad we went back in and got a second opinion. Writing this review for the benefit of others who may be going through a similar emergency where treatment is time sensitive.

don't let him do cataract surgery on your eye, I didn't need glasses before I went in there and had it done left needing glasses

My experience with Dr. Barsoumian was terrible. Most of his recent reviews are one stars and I should have read them before I went to him. I agree with the other reviews that he gets things wrong and his knowledge about eyecare is incorrect or at least out of date. I got a second opinion from another optometrist confirming that he got it wrong and my sty was eventually fixed by the new doctor.

I have been trying to get an appointment for a whole month. left voice mail and called many times. the receptionist always wait her make me wait more than 15 minutes that i have to hang up or tell me she'll call back but no calls. she's rude and very unprofessional. it was easier for me to go for another office. I feel that she's there to ruin the business! i hope Dr Barsoumian see this and act accordingly.

Dr. Barsoumian is a very kind and caring doctor. He is the most knowledgeable ophthalmologist I have yet met. I'm so glad I took my friend's recommendation to go be seen by him. Unlike other doctors that just do the routine testing and tell you the results, Dr. Barsoumian actually tells you ways you can help protect and maintain your health through homeopathic ways like certain diets and supplements. He errs on the conservative side and advises you to go in for more frequent check-ups if you have certain conditions. The only downside to his practice is that it's in a very old facility and I didn't see him disinfecting the equipment or his hands between patients. I hope he doesn't retire soon, because he is the most knowledgeable and experienced ophthalmologist I have yet seen.

I trusted the doctor and found him helpful and kind at first. The office staff and communication is terrible. A prescription for sty medication was incorrect. I waited 3 hours at the pharmacy for him to be contacted, and have it filled. They, the doctor's office, charged me for a doctor's visit for their mistake. They harass me with the bill, blocked my phone number, and the stye never went away. I don't feel comfortable going back. Don't know how much is office staff. It's been months, still receiving bill notices, prescription med. useless (stye hasn't gone away and hurts), unable to contact, and still unresolved.

Went to fit hard lenses for keratoconus. After many failed attempts from him not being thorough with the eye testing and measurements. I gave up and went to a new doctor, got measured once and fitted once. I went to Dr. Barsoumian 7 times before I left the office for good. He sees about 4 patients at the same time and it seems he forgets what each patient is in for each time he steps out of the room. He bites off more than he can chew for his age and after finally getting the measurement right in my eyes, he realized the contacts we were ordering can't even fit the measurements. Terrible experience and he still billed me for all the time I wasted taking off from work to deal with that nonsense.
