North Valley Optometry

My family and I have been visiting this clinic for over a decade now. We consistently have a wonderful experience with Dr. Ngo and her entire staff. Not only are they highly professional, but they are also incredibly compassionate.

Incompetent optometrist. Had an annual eye exam with Dr. Tarryn Uyen Ngo. Requested an eye dilation to examine the back of the eye but got refused. Dr Ngo says she is not a surgeon doctor so she cannot dilate my eyes and check the back of the eye. I told her I usually do it in the annual eye exam at other optometry stores. But she insists she cannot do the exam. If you want to check more(e.g., the back of your eye), she will refer you to Advanced Eye Associates, Inc(owned by Binh Luong M.D.). It's such a waste of time and an annual eye exam in her optometry store. She can only do glasses optometry but nothing more. Avoid at all cost.

Dr. Ngo is very sweet. Great to talk to, provides great information. They provide exceptional care, addressing my vision concerns with precision and professionalism. Their expertise and friendly demeanor make my visits comfortable every single time. Highly recommended!

Worst prescription I've ever had. Then the glasses' center of line of sight is off as well. A sparse selection of cheap, Chinese made frames, which the staff know nothing about. Then the receptionist acted as though she was doing me a favor when I went to pay for them. Now I've been to a much, much better Optometrist, where I don't mind spending $750 and $800, respectively, for the two pairs of glasses I've bought so far. When it comes to vision, quality is everything. North Valley Optometry was a spectacular fail, by every measure.

I have been going to Dr. Ngo at North Valley Optometry for 4 years. I have been very happy with the level of care and service. I wear contacts and have had comfort issues and Dr. Ngo has been able to find a brand that works for me. They also try to accommodate your schedule and have good follow-up. Everyone is nice and do not try to push sales in any way. I would highly recommend North Valley Optometry.

Absolutely knowledgeable, competent, comprehensive, charming and accommodating. A perfect balance of professional and personable. I needed an eye exam. But, I was worried. I'm new to San Jose. Even though I've lived in many places, I always went home and saw the same optometrist I've seen for 42 years. It is hard to match that level of comfort and security. But, she did it. She was able to be totally present with my concerns. She addressed them empathetically and collaboratively. A most excellent problem solver. I have a hard time with progressive lenses. I have struggled for years trying to embrace them. She listened to me go on and on about how I am inside of my body and the way they always feel upside down. And when I was done, she had the simplest most logical solution to the problem. Her prices are reasonable. Her staff thoroughly researched what my insurance covers. Turns out, I was able to afford two pairs of glasses that have all the bells and whistles. I am elated! It feels like I not only get a basic everyday dress.. and it will be immaculately tailored ... plus a ballgown throw in as an extra. I've never had a frivolous pair of glasses in my life. Well done. Way to make a lady feel fabulous. Just as an added bonus, the patient before me was an elder who had some speech challenges. She and the staff were amazingly patient, caring, and supportive. The assistant even went the extra mile to help him coordinate his transport for the follow up visit. She didn't have to do that. Not in her job description. But, she did it graciously and kindly because it was the right thing to do. She treated the whole person.

Dr. Ngo is the best! I appreciate her expertise and rigor that makes my eyesight the best it can be. Very courtious and professional staff with a convenient location in a historic Berryessa building. I love this place!

The staff members are super nice and very helpful. They made sure I had everything I needed before leaving the office.
