I did not personally see Dr. Shieh, but I was with my partner who did. We were seeing Dr. Shieh for a detached retina. The optometrist said he had a horseshoe tear and that he needed to have surgery right away. Dr Shieh examined my partner and was rather dismissive of his symptoms and a little grumpy. He reluctantly referred us to a retinal specialist who we were able to see the same day. The retina doctor confirmed the detached retina and found a small tear in the other eye which will be corrected as well. For the life of me I can't understand how a doctor could miss this. I mean this is what he does professionally. Thank the gods for the optometrist Dr. Thomas Lucas in Ukiah and Dr. Meffert at North Bay Vitreoretinal in Santa Rosa.
