Eye Care Institute: Kalane J. Wong MD

I have been to the eye care institute three times. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. Overtime I have scheduled it takes a couple of months to get an appointment and they do not have a waiting list. When I come in for appointments I have been waiting for the doctor for a minimum of 1/2 hour and sometimes longer. The staff that performs the tests have always been extremely helpful and kind. When I met with Dr. Wong she did not even look at me while speaking to me until she began to look at my eye. She gives me instructions without checking to see what my response is to her decision. I have decided to look for eye care from a practice who respects my time and treats me like a person rather than a specimen.

Terrible! Had a stroke & was referred there for double vision. Half the testing was done by a very nice tech, who then announced that to see Doctor Wong, who did the testing for double vision, I had to pay $45. in the middle of the appointment. Without paying $45. I had used up my "visit" under insurance plan for TWO YEARS, and would NOT get a prescription. Dr. Wong blitzed in, extremely rude, ignored my questions, would not even answer me, and wrote "Costco, Vision" and walked out. I began to cry, and she sent someone else to very unkindly ask me to leave. My caregiver did not stay, and I sat forever, confused in the lobby, no-one would help me. I found Dr. Wong had CHARGED me the $45. and was going to send a bill for the services she did NOT perform. Extremely rude. The Manager apologized for Wong's behavior and cancelled the bill.

My GP referred me to the Eye Care Institute for Allergies and issues with my ears. Not having the name of a doctor, I was assigned to Dr. Wong. Avoid this woman. I do not know how qualified she is, but she does not listen, interrupts constantly, and has no people skills.

I found the doctor to be very gentle, kind, courteous and professional. I had a very borderline case and after checking thouroughly, she referred me to a specialist. before doing so she wanted to take a picture, that was not covered by my insurance. I heard her tell the technician to take it anyway and that she would cover it. So I find the negative reviews perplexing.

There negative comments here are the opposite of my experience. Dr Wong is very attentive and helpful. She does not rush through the appointment, and she provides excellent care. Only four stars because it can be difficult dealing with phone contacts and front desk people.

very bad experience. poor bed-side manner - she did not look or listen to my wife. she disregarded my wife's experience and made her condition worse by scratching her stye with a metal instrument. she should not be in practice. patients are not machines.
