Eye Care Center of Northern Colorado

I recently saw Dr. Kanoff at the Boulder branch for retinal hemorrhage. After inspection, he swiftly dictated (not recommended) surgery to repair it to prevent a possible, future retinal tear/detachment, including rhetoric of how awful such a condition would be to endure. He was compelling, but regardless I decided to pump the breaks and obtain more information. After questioning him, he stated my risk of developing a tear without surgery was 5%. In other words, there was a 95% chance that a tear will never occur. According to Dr. Kanoff, the surgery he wanted to preform on me, which costs $1,000, reduced my risk from 5% to 1%... that's a negligible improvement at best, and suggests he only saw dollar signs. Those numbers don't standup and he knew that, which is why he did not share them with me upfront. His approach was something a used car salesman would do, and if you're a patient of his make sure to press him for these critical details before he whisks you away for unnecessary surgery at your expense, because he won't release it to you of his own volition. Addendum: This is in response to the office's response to my original comment. Trying to frame the issue as a patient letting themselves down is unprofessional. I stand by my story. I left this out of my original response as to not stoop too low, but I'll state it now to any unassuming patient of his... Dr. Kanoff was proficient in how he deceived me - he did not have a goal of allowing me to make an informed decision as the responder would like you to believe. His fluency with deception would strongly suggest I'm not the only patient he's done this to.

I've been going for over 10 years. Right now I drive from Aurora to Boulder twice a year to see Dr. Rothstein. He's very easy to understand and he cares. The Boulder office has much better services. It feels like they care of the customers. Thank you. my eyes have greatly improved 100% praise God.

Dr. Kanoff took the time to explain all of the testing they did, that i was making good progress and the details of further visits. I'm hoping my progress will be good enough and my eyes will be stable enough that I'll be able to fill a new prescription.

Efficient, on schedule, professional, spends plenty of time explaining details. Dr Kanoff and the Office staff are really great! Highly recommended.

I had experienced a retinal detachment and the facility was able to get me in within 24-hours of calling to make the appointment. Dr. Tilton was very calm, explained things clearly, set expectations and had me in for surgery the following morning. I would highly recommend Dr. Tilton and Eye Care Center of Northern Colorado.

Questions asked at the center were re-asked in the preparatory paperwork for surgery. Why duplicate the information? There are more than enough forms without duplication.

Dr. Jensen and her team were so helpful and went out of their way to get me in for eyelid reconstructive surgery before my insurance deadline. Dr. Jensen did a wonderful job with the procedure and my healing has been quick and smooth. I would highly recommend her to anyone needing this type of treatment.
