I have had multiple bad experiences with EyeCare Consultants. They made glasses for me that when I wore them they made me feel like I had to cross my eyes to focus. When I came back in they basically said that's weird and offered no solutions. Today I experienced rude and unknowledgeable workers. I was told my exam would cost one price then was charged another. When I questioned it both the person at the front desk and the person charging me were quite rude. I also checked and double checked my insurance before I went in and knew I was eligible for both frames and contacts in the same calendar year. They said it was one or the other. I left, called my insurance, and sure enough I was right. If I hadn't stood up for myself this could have cost me a ton of money. This is irresponsible.

I had eye exam from Dr Shimonova; got prescription for glasses and bought glasses from their office. I asked a couple of staff where else I can get the glasses adjusted; they all said I could go to any EyeCare office, but declined to give me addresses or areas where they are. I sent an email yesterday and still have not had reply. So, I called the office and, again, not much help. After a 15+ minute call, Amanda gave me an address on Colo Blvd and said there are no more "in my area". They also failed to give me a copy of the prescription. I will not do business with them ever again. I would rather not even give them 1 star.

Staff is always very friendly and I feel I'm receiving great care. I was happy not to wait when I showed up for my appointment a few minutes early, they saw me right away and it was quick! I also love that I can go in whenever to have my glasses cleaned and adjusted, no appt needed!

It doesn't take long for customers to notice the pattern -- nearly every one-star review mentions the same issues: dishonesty from the business, incorrect prescriptions, and consistently poor customer service. Unfortunately, my entire family has experienced all of these problems firsthand. If you value your time, money, and vision, I strongly recommend using your VSP benefits at Costco instead. They offer a far larger designer selection, the same lens and contact options, and all of it at a fraction of the price.

I've been a customer of Eyecare Consultants for over 13 years. I brought my children here since they were toddlers. For more than a decade, I trusted this place with my family's vision care -- but the way this business operates now is absolutely unacceptable. The office manager, who proudly claims she has "run this place for 26 years," is the biggest problem. If that's true, then she deserves full credit for dragging this business straight into the ground. Her behavior has been dishonest, manipulative, and shockingly unprofessional. There is a constant revolving door of physicians -- most lasting barely a year -- which has led to inconsistent and careless care. That's exactly how my daughter, who has 20/20 vision, ended up with a completely incorrect prescription of +2.75. I paid over $700 out of pocket for glasses and contacts, and all I received was a $100 contact credit. The rest? Gone. When I brought the issue back to them, the excuses were all over the place. A voicemail from the business on May 16 clearly stated the glasses were dropped off that day and they'd like to discuss a credit to the account. Later, on 12/22/2025, the manager tried to claim they had been sitting on her desk for years. The story changed every time I asked a question. Then came the most unbelievable part: the manager tried to convince me that I had given consent to donate my own property. She looked me straight in the eye and lied to my face. She refused to reimburse or credit my account, even after admitting the prescription was wrong. Instead, she took the glasses back under the pretense of "donations," then conveniently claimed they don't provide donation slips -- even for brand-new glasses I paid for. The reality is likely they sold them. When I expressed how unacceptable this was, she told me she didn't care about losing customers. That tells you everything you need to know about how this place is run. And let's talk about pricing: you can buy the exact same products at Costco for a fraction of the cost -- literally 1/15 of what Eyecare Consultants charges -- and still use your VSP benefits. The markup here is outrageous, and the service doesn't justify a single dollar of it. After 13 years of loyalty, I'm done. Between the dishonesty, the inflated prices, the refusal to take responsibility, and the constant turnover of physicians, this place has become a perfect example of how a business collapses under bad leadership.

Dr. Kaitlyn Barkey was wonderful! Very thorough and explains everything in great detail. She actually cares about her patients and that came through loud and clear. The staff was great as well and I'm so thankful I selected this office and Dr. Barkey as my new eye care provider. They did not disappoint.

I have been going to Eyecare Consultations since I was a child and they are still very personable and a fantastic practice!

My family has been clients of this practice for 8+ years. While I think the quality of the care is strong, I think the practice has really lost its way from a patient-focused perspective and I can no longer recommend it. 1) they eliminated Saturday hours 2) they started closing early on Fridays (at one point at noon but they have dialed that back to 4pm) 3) they started sending their calls to an impersonal call center with agents who lack empathy or EQ 4) ...and the final straw: I was informed today by an impersonal call center agent that I am simply not allowed to book appointments for myself and my two sons. They now allow ONLY two family member appointments in one day. 5) when I asked for an exception given the 40 minute drive from my house to this practice, as well as our long tenure as patients, I was told that they would grant me an exception but that I should be prepared that they will likely cancel one of these appointments anyway. Whatever for? As much as I like my MD, she works only part-time, and as such, has 10 week waits for appointments. And since I work more than full-time, I don't have time in my busy life to make two trips to her practice. They've amassed too many patient-unfriendly practices in favor the work-life balance of the docs. I would recommend against establishing care at this practice.
