Doctor Koumanjan is very professional and talented. He cares for his patients and dedicates his time liberally...
I'd avoid him if you're thinking about laser vitreolysis for floaters. I had my floaters treated the first couple times in Dallas by "the Floater Doctor" and then sought out a local doctor for the next treatment. The guy in Dallas was very careful to avoid any laser shots near the lens or the retina, and gave me about 300 laser "zaps" in each eye without incident, asking me about the shape of the floaters that bothered me. Dr. K had a different approach, and just did maybe 30 zaps randomly, without wanting to know what the troubling floaters looked like. A different approach, but I thought maybe that works too. But oddly, at the end of the treatment he said "let's hope that didn't give you a cataract." I thought that was strange, since the guy in Dallas was so so careful not to come anywhere close to the lens. But sure enough, I had pictures of my eye taken a few months after Dr. K's treatment (and a few months before), a very distinct new cataract suddenly appeared. It's a special type of cataract, and the floater experts say it's the kind that comes from using the laser too close to the lens. Bottom line: I cancelled my next appointment and won't be returning to Dr. K for any more laser floater treatments. If you're considering them, I'd suggest you avoid Dr. K and try either Dr. Johnson in Dallas or Dr. Singh in Kenosha. Dr. Johnson treats nothing but floaters and Dr. Singh used the be the head of the International Society of Floater Doctors. I hope this new cataract can be dealt with, but if that same mistake had happened on the retina, the consequences could be even more disastrous.
Office staff is very rude and can't get the insurance billed correct. I have 2 letters from my insurance stating they would pay for donor tissue if they submitted my medical records but they just keep resubmitted bill! 'My first transplant failed and I am left blind and in constant pain for 6 months now. Would definitely not recommend
Upon first visit, I was met with a somewhat chilly reception, as it was a second opinion. [I had a terrible experience at another surgeons office!!] But upon stating Dr. K had previously done my husband's surgeries about 5 years before, everyone started to relax and I felt better about my initial visit. At the desk where we had to make a decision about scheduling surgery, Danielle was so patient, as I was incredibly nervous about eye surgery plus paying so much money for my part, was staggering! My hubby was allowed in and he convinced me to schedule. I phoned back in to speak with practice manager to get some important questions answered and Hana was incredibly helpful and very nice. Lisa was very sweet at all my appointments before and after surgery. Dr. KOUYOUMDJIAN is a caring surgeon who explains what each step entails and strives for the very best outcome! I am very, very glad my experience here has turned out so well. Thank you, DOC staff, Shawna & especially Dr. KOUYOUMDJIAN!!
I am SO happy with Dr. K's work on my cataract and vision correction surgery! I've been profoundly nearsighted since I was a child, eventually also developed astigmatism and as I got older, far-sighted. The cataracts developed in the last few years, and last year they were ready to go. Dr. K is just amazing - the procedure was fast and relatively easy and the results speak for themselves. I went from not being able to see without glasses for anything to usually only readers when i do computer work and no glasses at all most of the time. It's been life-changing! Thanks, Dr. K!
Dr. K was my eye surgeon when I needed cataracts removed in 2010. His staff was kind, patient and trust worthy. Dr. K's bedside manor was awesome. If I needed any eye surgery in the future, I will return to Dr. K and his staff with no hesitation!
Dr. K is heavily invested in the positive outcomes of his patients, and uses the best technology available in the Denver area. I have always enjoyed my follow up with him. I respect his direct feedback and advice on the health of my eyes.
Dr. K is a wonderful surgeon. It took me 5 years from the time I was diagnosed with cataracts to find the right Dr. I saw at least 5 other Dr.s before meeting Dr. K. I am deaf and Dr. K used a phone to communicate with me. No other Dr. did that. I have also been diagnosed with 2 different types of PTSD and Anastasia awareness PTSD. Dr. K and his staff helped me so much. I can't even put into words. His staff called the day of my surgery to make sure I was alright. My cataracts were so bad I had no vision in my right eye. I was so scared of surgery that I didn't think I could get thru the surgery. I was closing my eyes to see if I could get thru the day being blind. My fears were so deep rooted I saw the surgery as something I couldn't do. I'm also deaf. Having a Dr. like Dr. K was life saving for me. He not only restored my vision to 20/20. He made it possible for me to do the surgery that I thought I couldn't do. My anesthesia Dr. was Dr. Ruben at the hospital. Another great Dr. The whole experience was great. Thank you Dr. K for restoring my sight. Not only is Dr. K a great Dr. but a great man. I can see. I'll forever be thankful for meeting Dr. K.
