Mountain Eye Care

I lost my contacts while up skiing in Pagosa Springs and was in a bit of a panic. Mountain Eye Clinic was absolutely wonderful! They were kind, professional, and helped me out right away. I'm so grateful for their quick assistance. Highly recommend -- five stars!

One of my contacts ripped and I needed another one in a pinch. While they had my prescription available and were able to provide me with a replacement contact they charged a $40 dispensing fee and wouldn't even give me a pair. $40 for ONE contact and not even a complete pair. When I expressed my concern about the price for a single contact the receptionist told me I was taking away from their patients and said she could just take the contact back from me. Then she proceeded to explain the cost of shipping etc they have to pay to justify the dispensing fee. In my opinion, $40 is an insane cost to only give a person one single contact. Overall, the demeanor of the receptionist was extremely rude and the cost of a single contact to someone in need of their vision seems slightly predatory. If you can't provide a complete pair for the $40 price tag then they should have at least cut it in half. Not a good experience. Not to mention they treated me as an outsider taking away from their patients in the local community in their little mountain town when I am indeed a local in this town.

AMAZING PEOPLE!!! Thank you so much to Lorenzo for helping us this weekend. We're from out of town and my husband tore a contact. We called multiple people for help and Lorenzo was the first person to answer the phone right away and get us a pair to hold us over the weekend. He greeted us by our name and with a smile when walking in. Thanks to this business we can go back to enjoying our vacation.

Travanti, Dr. Derr, and Kim, all made my overall experience great!! Travanti was very knowledgeable about frames and easy to chat with. Kim did a great job explaining all the machines and what they did. Dr. Derr went over my results in a way that made it easy to understand.

Excellent group! From the front counter to doc to sales. These guys are real pros. Excellent bed-side manners, great prices, and they treat you like you've been there 1000 times even if it's your first visit.

The whole team (especially Lorenzo) have a high degree of mindful & diligent patient care & incredible customer service! They have often had to lend me contacts because I will wait until the last minute to order them. They are always available, efficient, & willing to help me out with any of my vision needs. Dr. Derr and Dr. Z are both phenomenal optometrists. By far the best in town or anywhere for that matter!

Made a ski trip to Wolf Creek ..... forgot my contacts.... Stopped in with my prescription expecting to buy some contacts. They went back to get them and to our surprise she handed me contacts, case and solution!!! No charge!! Wow not only did she save the day having my prescription on hand but would not take my money!!! Now that's what I call giving back!! Great experience with this group!!

I lost my glasses in the river while vacationing this weekend and of course left my spares at home. I went in early Monday morning with no appointment and Lorenzo couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. Since I'm also an occasional contact wearer, within 20 minutes he had me out the door with a pair of disposable contacts that were just right to get me through the rest of my trip! I was way undercharged and I wish I could find a good way to express my gratitude besides leaving a review. Mountain Eye Care saved my vacation. This is one local business that I can certainly recommend to anyone with optical care needs in Pagosa Springs!
