Connecticut Eye Physicians PC

My eye doctor recently retired so I decided to try this office as it was convenient and they could give me an appointment before the years end. Be wary of these folks. If your insurance provider (my case Care Partners) lists this facility as approved for standard/annual eye exams (i.e. by an optometrist), be advise that these people will charge the "specialist" fee ($45.00 in my case). Eventhough you will see an optometrist, they state that they are an ophthalmology office and therefore authorized to charge you the co-pay fee for a "specialist" visit. I found the medical staff pleasant and courteous and was pleased with my new optometrists treatment. I did complain to her for being charged a specialist fee but she more or less shrugged her shoulders, saying it is what it is. As for the receptionist, not friendly nor polite at all. I don't know her name but can idenify her as a "plus-size" young woman. Did not care for the interaction at all. I've contacted my medicare advocate, verified that this office should have only charge me the regular $15.00 fee and submitted paperword to get reinbursed for the overcharge. In addition I've requested that remove this organization from their approved list of optometrists.

I called and very nicely asked to schedule an appointment and when I told them my insurance they were extremely rude and kept saying they have never even heard of it. I looked it up and it said they took it, but the lady would not even check for me and was so rude.

I should have just made the drive to my normal eye doctor on the Berlin Turnpike. They dilated my eyes and didn't give me the protective glasses on the way out. Seems like they were in a rush that day. Also if you have husky you can't get new glasses here. They recommended my Eye Dr on Silas Deane who are terrible at glasses. Attached photos of my "new" and old glasses they're off. And a bit difficult to see out of. *Edit* I did go back to have an 2nd eye exam. My eyedr in Rocky Hill is to blame for when they made the glasses. My eye exam went well and the prescription is correct from CT Eye physicians. But my eyedr didn't make my glasses right at all, there's also not many frame options. I had to get a refund from Myeye dr Rocky hill.

Upon having a routine eye exam (as a new patient), I documented a pre-existing condition just as an FYI. Because of this, they coded my service as diagnostic despite the fact that it was preventative as a entirely basic eye exam. When my insurance subsequently did not cover because of this, my experience in trying to resolve the situation with Connecticut Eye Physicians was atrocious. First, my insurance could not contact them despite multiple attempts due to lack of response, and even an inability to leave voicemail because of a full mailbox. I had to go to them in person and even then, the receptionist was rude and lacked empathy. I've never had issues like this at any ophthalmologist's office and will never return.

I have been going to this office for several years and have never had a bad experience. All the doctors and their staff are top notch and very pleasant to interact with. I recently had an issue and wanted to see a doctor as soon as possible. The front desk person was compassionate and helpful and arranged for a doctor to see me within hours. When I arrived she was genuinely concerned about my condition and was glad that I had no issues getting there. I badly injured one of my eyes several years ago and need to have extremely competent care to stay on top of things. I can't imagine an office that could be any better. I highly recommend CT Eye Physicians.

I did not have a personally negative experience with the staff but when I asked for my PD to order the glasses on my own, they wanted to charge me $30 or something. Which I thought was ridiculous. I changed offices and decided to go to another one (very near) that provided my PD at no xtra charge

Receptionist is horrible and obviously trying to get people to reschedule instead of my wife being seen. Probably going to find another office. Wasted my time and made my wife reschedule. No curtousey call to say there was missing info. Took day off from work for this. Could have scanned the necessary information back to her as soon I as I got home. All she would have to do is bring the acct back up. Very inconvenient. Great Dr. But receptionist obviously on a power trip.

I think I'm done here. :) After many years I just want a more pleasant customer service experience. Dr is pretty good, down to earth. Staff is always so....unwelcoming. Harsh. Goodbye and good luck.
