I am extremely disappointed with how this appointment was handled. My eye appointment was scheduled for 1:30 PM, and like most medical offices require, we arrived early. My wife and I also had our 5-month-old baby with us. We use Modivcare for transportation, which typically arrives ahead of the scheduled time, so we were dropped off early as expected.
When we arrived, we discovered the office was closed from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM for lunch. This was never disclosed when the appointment was scheduled. Because of that lack of communication, we were forced to wait outside with our infant until the office reopened.
It is unacceptable that patients are expected to arrive early, yet the office is completely closed until the exact appointment time -- especially without informing patients in advance. Had I been told about this mid-day closure, I would not have scheduled an appointment at 1:30 PM, particularly with a young baby and arranged medical transportation involved.
Clear and transparent communication is the bare minimum patients deserve. This situation was avoidable and created unnecessary stress and inconvenience for my family.
P.S. The Doctors themselves very professional and experience was decent. But If you decided to leave based on not being told this you wouldn't know.

We were pleased to return to New Castle eye associates. It's closer, clean and has a very pleasant atmosphere. The staff has always been friendly. I also had the pleasure of being seen by the owner who was completely thorough and professional with my exam.
This place was really great all staff were really friendly especially the one's that helped pick out the glasses, they were really accommodating and helped my mom find the best fit glasses and made adjustments to them as she has had trouble with glasses slipping a lot! One thing I noticed that was worrying is that the nurse didn't wipe off a forehead and chin rest in between patients but the doctor did clean between patients so I wonder if it was still dirty previously other than that it was a nice place and looks brand new, definitely will come back!
I have been taking my two daughters here since they were young teenagers. They are both grown and still go. Today was my first visit with them and I remembered why I liked them so much. They have an amazing staff. They took their time with me and one of the young women helped me pick out a pair of glasses. No rushing at all. Such a great exercise!!! I highly recommend for children or adults. Can't wait to get my new glasses . Thanks again !
I want to start by saying how much I genuinely enjoy coming to Newcastle Eye Associates. The two gentlemen who do the eye exams are phenomenal they're friendly, professional, and make the entire visit enjoyable. Their sense of humor and positive energy are the reason I've continued coming back.
That said, I've had repeated negative experiences with one of the receptionists. She's an African-American woman with glasses and an overbite. Each time I visit, she seems to have an unpleasant attitude, particularly when dealing with standard parts of her job. I understand that front desk roles can be challenging, but patient interaction is a key part of the experience and unfortunately, her energy tends to bring the atmosphere down.
At my latest visit, she asked whether I had completed my consent forms online. I made my appointment back in February and came in May, so as a busy mother of three, I honestly couldn't remember. Rather than helping me verify whether my forms were on file, she immediately handed me a new packet without checking. I ended up locating the original link myself and filled out the forms again online.
After my exam which again, was handled wonderfully by the doctors she was asked to help me with choosing frames so my prescription could be processed. Instead of being patient or supportive, she appeared visibly annoyed that I was taking time to make my choice. It felt like she wanted me to hurry up, despite there being almost no one else in the facility. Eventually, she left the area without saying anything, and when I was ready, she barely acknowledged me. Her tone felt passive-aggressive and dismissive, which made the interaction uncomfortable.
Overall, I love the doctors and appreciate the care I receive here. I'm only sharing this because I believe every part of the visit matters, including the first and last interaction with the front desk. A little more patience and kindness would go a long way.
I enjoyed visiting New Castle Eye Associates for the very first time ! Leo was very nice and friendly. Leo was very professional and made my appointment go by very smoothly. He also speaks spanish, which is a plus. I thought it was convenient that they were able to give me a new set of contacts the sameday of my very first appointment with them. Thank you very much!
Highly unprofessional. Called to schedule my yearly eye exam just to be told they do not take my insurance anymore. Why was that not communicated to the patients? On top of that, the very rude young lady on the phone couldn't even give any recommendations on places who do take my insurance. I've been a patient for YEARS.
When calling and trying to set an appointment.. first the woman who answered just automatically gave me a date and time not considering my schedule at all. When I asked for information on hours of operation she proceeded to say "we close at different times every day" not providing the information I asked, she got annoyed immediately when I tried to ask for information on why new patients have a different time to be scheduled and you could feel her inability to do her job without being annoyed by basic questions, she then said she would get her office manager who proceeded to pick up say " find somewhere else to go" and hung up as I tried to ask for a name. Very unprofessional and I wouldn't recommend even calling this place let alone walking in. I don't know what happened to customer service anymore. Truly sad what has become of the professional world!
