Dr. Gertner is the gold standard of ophthalmology at Kaiser. Over our 10+ years as members, he has performed successful cataract surgeries for both my husband and myself. He is highly skilled. I requested a -2.0 outcome and he hit the target spot on. Professional, calm with a compassionate bedside manner. He is the doctor you want for your vision. Highly recommended! Dr. Gertner, his office staff, the pre-op and surgical staff at Kensington were all AMAZING! I had double cataract surgery and every step leading up to, during, and after the surgery was performed with competence, compassion, and care. Everyone was friendly, put up with my off-brand sense of humor, displayed interest and genuine concern for me, making me feel like I was their only patient. I love 'em all! Dr Gertner performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes in one session. There was some concern with one due to an old injury. The procedure went quickly and well. He and his team were great. They were professional, thorough, courteous, attentive, and pleasant. Dr Gertner clearly answered all questions regarding the procedure and provided clear easy instructions for my follow up care. Dr. Gertner was fabulous. He clearly explained everything he was doing before and during my procedure. His post-op attention to my recovery was also excellent. And, I am thrilled with the results.

I had a follow up visit for shingles that moved into my eye. Dr. Gertner was very thorough, professional, knowledgeable and kind. The technician also did an excellent job and had a good manner with patients.

Dr. Gertner performed my first cataract operation a few years ago, and I was confident in his expertise to have him perform my second cataract operation. The whole experience was top notch With his team and his confidence, I know I made the right decision using this physician at Kaiser Permanente. My only disappointment was the long wait to be scheduled for the procedure. I started the process in the spring, 2025 and had to wait until November, 2025 for an opening for the procedure. The operation is relatively short...about 30 min. I would encourage Kaiser Permanente to look into how to shorten the wait time to be scheduled.

Dr. Gertner, is a wonderful eye doctor I am very pleased with my surgery. He explained the procedure in great detail and was very meticulous I could not have asked for a better surgeon. He is very direct and I understand why because he's dealing with your eyes and does not want you to move or not comply. I will definitely recommend him to others.
