Ophthalmology Department

The doctors: amazing...the staff on the other hand: no customer service and no care. They must not like their jobs. All I got was attitude and speaking over me. I was instructed to call in June to schedule for a July or August appointment. For the first week of June every morning, I have been calling and no answer and no option for voicemail. I even went in person to the Eye Center the second week of June while I was at the hospital already for a dermatology appointment and the Eye Center tells me to wait another week and try to call again later. I keep being told the schedule is not ready. I eventually got through to speak with someone on the phone mid June, and they tell the same story that the schedule is not ready. They did inform me that it was ok to come in for a walk in the week of July 24-July 28 between the hours of 7am-3pm. I come in this morning at 7:30am and of course, no customer service from the front desk, and I explained how I was there for a walk in. They immediately jumped onto me saying that they only do walk-ins for emergencies. I am a recovering Stevens Johnsons Syndrome patient from WHC. My care team and even myself, take this seriously to make sure anything affecting on my body is being well taken care of. But to have been refused to be seen and not listen to what I was told by their scheduling staff, they tell me what they read in my record that I only have an annual exam to be scheduled, when I had the paperwork in my hands, from my last appointment from May, to call in June to come back for a July or August appointment. I understand that administrative business can fall through the cracks. Had customer service been courteous and encouraging, I would have been understanding even more. The frustration of coming from Northern Va and to waste gas and waste leave hours from work only to be refused and looked at with attitude...do better!!

Oh wow! Now where do I even begin? From the receptionist who didn't acknowledge me, or reply to my good morning looking like he's so incredibly irritated and doesn't want to be there, or the fact that I wasn't even seen my a doctor/resident!!. I came ALL the way from VA by metro, took me two hours to literally be dismissed by a bunch of off the counter items I already have. They initially refused to see me as my case (atopic dermatitis on my inner eyelids) didn't seem "urgent" to them, as they now only take emergency walk ins, that being bleeding or loss of vision due to trauma, etc. They displayed no signs of sympathy or consideration. The residents seemed to be running back and forth between rooms like they're confused or perplexed? It was a horrible experience, I only give CREDIT to the sweet older women who was well presented and dressed nice. She was kind enough to help me book an appointment 6 weeks later for a thorough eye exam so I can get steroid eye drops (which is what I initially came for). Besides her, that place is a total dump and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone ever !!!

Terrible. Long wait. Dismissive nurses and staff. Clearly over burdened. All staff is stretched thin. Very dated. My nurse or technician refused to narrate what she was doing to my eye, even when I asked questions and felt vulnerable. Call a real ophthalmologist clinic and ask for an urgent appointment. Do not go here. Do not waste your time here. Care is terrible.

My mothers eye care doctor sent her to do a walk-in to the center. Which I must say I should have just done, but me trying to make sure that I have all information that I need to have and don't walk in to be told to go back home(DC parking is costly). I called and spoke with receptionist who kept me on hold for an hour (called at 8:30 and she didn't get back in the phone with me until 9:38) saying I'm sorry you were on hold we had three ppl before you, however I am trying to make a scheduled appointment for you so I'll give you a call within an hour. I did not get a call back at 10:30 and didn't want to rush then being that earlier she said she was busy so I called back at 12 giving them 2hrs 30 min. The receptionist says yes and. Kokoe I am waiting for.l the doctor to give me a time I will call u before the end of business day. So I call back at 4 and no answer. I was greeted by a voice mail that says they closed but are open M- Friday and if I have emergency come into the emergency room instead. Why was I never called back I don't know why but my mom is here suffering and this is the receptionist second time giving us a run around. Speak straight tell me you'll call tomorrow tel me you don't have appointments tell me to walk in but do not play with ppl and their health. Smh

Good locations and very experienced doctors however, Depending on which day you go wait times can be pretty long

The doctors are attentive, caring and clear in explaining complex corneal issues.

Terrible! Don't go there!
