My father has Parkinson's. He walks slowly, can barely speak, and has a language barrier. While I understand that situations like this may require extra time, healthcare professionals should approach patients with patience, compassion, and understanding. My mother was also scheduled at the same time and also has a language barrier. When they were both called in simultaneously, I offered to have another patient seen first to avoid any inconvenience, but this was declined. Despite this, there appeared to be frustration for assisting both of my parents at the same time. All I expected was basic kindness and patience during the brief 10-20 minutes they were being seen. Every patient deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, especially those who are elderly, vulnerable, or facing communication challenges. Honestly, I feel that if I had not finally spoken up after remaining patient for some time, my parents may have been treated in a dismissive or inappropriate manner. That is deeply concerning. Amal, however, has been extremely kind and sweet, and I truly appreciate her professionalism. Thank you.

Five Star for Dr. Bavinger . . . he was great, and the surgery was a success. As for the 1 star, I have never given one before. Let me just say 2 things about how the Retina Group is run: 1. This is how business in America is run today, and that's a shame. 2. "We're fed up Arnold, and were not going to take it anymore!"

If you respect your time and yourself. Don't waste your time. I had a 10:15 appointment. Got here 10am. Over 2.5 hours still haven't seen doctor. They have 1 doctor for this entire establishment. They need to tell people. I don't think anyone would schedule if they knew it would be this long. Better off driving to another location that is further out . At least based on their reviews it will be a quicker service. They worried more about getting your insurance information and copay than yours experience. Shut this place down or fire everyone and try again.

I am so impressed with RGW Southeast DC office. The place is super well-organized. The support staff is excellent. They are efficient and coordinate well with each other and with the medical team. Dr. Mogil, was top-notch, too. She was thorough, answered all my questions, and lined me up for surgery the very next day after my appointment. When I had a follow-up question, the support staff took the call, reached out to the Dr. and got back to me with the answer within a couple of hours.

A couple of months ago, I was seen by Dr. Rachel Mogil. She was very rude and abrupt. She conducted unnecessary tests and failed to diagnose my nearsightedness (I didn't mention it to her, but I wanted to assess the diagnostic quality). I do not recommend visiting the clinic, but If you must go there, request a different doctor.

1st Review: This is by far 1 of worst eye doctors in the area, not because the doctors are bad but because Dr. Spellman over books his patients. I'm not saying the doctor shouldn't try to make money but you can not have folks waiting for 3 to 5 hours when they have an appointment. And I mean every appointment since I've been dealing with them. I have never been to a doctor where everyone there is complaining about how they had to spend the whole day in the office only to see the doctor for 15 to 20 minutes. It's ridiculous and the medical board should look into it. Again, Dr. Spellman is a nice experience'd doctor. But there's much to be said about how the office is ran. Most of the patient are older folks and I they think they have nothing to do for the rest of their day. Something has to be done. Update: So, I went back after I posted this last review and I think they might be getting better. I was only there for a hour and half (the normal time for any doctors visit). Great job for finally litsening to patients. Hope they keep up the good job .

I am uncertain how to rate my visit today. I had to leave the office after waiting for approximately two hours. When I asked when I might expect to be seen, the receptionist said it may still be another 30-45 minutes and that when coming in for an appointment, I should plan on allowing 3-4 hours. I have high regard for Dr. Spellman, and appreciate his willingness to be thorough with his patients as well as the fact that he has a number of emergency patients each day. However, I do not appreciate spending 3-4 hours in the office, the vast majority of which is in the waiting room. There must be a better system. That said, his staff is very considerate and professional and I have great respect and confidence in everyone I have encountered in the office. I am considering making a follow up appt with his colleague for whom I was told the time in the waiting room is not nearly as long.

An overall good experience. The reviews indicating that there is a wait time are true. I had a 2pm appointment and did not leave until 4pm. That said they have a lot of patients, which means there's a slight delay in appointment times. That aside I felt the staff was professional, courteous, and had a good bed side manner as they explained everything they were doing and answered all my questions. The doctor (can't recall her name at the moment) was also good and gave me confidence that she knew what she was doing, which is what you want when someone is messing around with your eyes!
