Dr. Schneid was polite, attentive, and thorough! He addressed all of my concerns and questions and never once talked down to me or made me feel stupid for not understanding something.
He was also very patient with me during testing as I moved a bit with the adjusting lens.
I will recommend him to friends and family!
Dr. Schneid is rude, condescending, controlling, and pushy. He discourages his customers from understanding and taking ownership of their own prescriptions, and he makes customers feel wrong at every turn. I kept hoping subsequent visits would get better, but they did not. At my third and last visit, he actually took away the boxes and foil labels of the trial contacts he had me try on, he refused to give them to me when I asked, and he acted like I was doing something wrong by asking for them, even though he'd freely given me the boxes and foil covers for the first round of trials. Honestly, it felt suspicious. I really wanted to support a local small business, I was excited/hopeful to finally get contacts, and I was fully prepared to buy my contacts from him, but he's just lost a customer. Given the other similar reviews I'm reading now about people getting overcharged by him for their contacts, it sounds like I dodged a bullet.
Amazing.
Dr Schneider will go the extra mile. I had an emergency five minutes before they closed. Called them, his assistant did everything she could to help me and the doctor came back after closing time to take care of me. They are very professional, efficient and very very kind.
Dr. Schneider was great. He diagnosed my vision issue and referred me to a specialist. His years of experience paid off for me in this situation. I had been seeing a young eye doctor in a new practice out in Fairfax before moving to The District. My old eye doctor completely missed such an obvious issue. Thanks Dr. Schneider.
I made an appointment, and ended up waiting 50 minutes to be seen. As someone who works full time, I really didn't want to spend nearly an hour of my free time in a waiting room when I made an appointment.
Dr. Schneid apologized for the wait after 20 minutes and said he'd get to me in 10 minutes, which was nice except it took another 30 minutes. I was ready to walk out when I was called in. He apologized again for the wait, which is appreciated, but from reviews it does not seem unusual. It seems to be a high-volume practice from my observation.
This also disrupts my patient experience because I don't want the appointment to last long since I feel sorry for everyone left in the waiting room, yet I also don't want the appointment to be hurried since I want to be fully evaluated with no pressure if something comes up.
Dr. Schneid's demeanor was professional and friendly, but again, I don't want to spend nearly an hour of my weekend day in a waiting room.
The eye glasses I looked at Uptown Vision were also very expensive, I wish they had a better range of lower-priced eyewear.
I scheduled an appointment the day before for 2pm. I then got a call later that evening asking to push the appointment later. I was flexible, and it was rescheduled to 3:30. I arrived shortly before my appointment time to fill out paperwork and subsequently waited almost an hour after my appointment time for my exam.
They had photocopied my insurance card at the beginning, and at the end, they said that they didn't work with my vision plan (even though they were the first place listed on my insurance company's website when I searched), and that I would have to pay for the exam. Later, I called my insurance company who verified the ID that is on my insurance card and said it should have been covered, and that they should have billed my insurance directly. Now all I'm left with is getting less coverage by submitting it as an out-of-network claim, even though it was IN NETWORK.
I thought my eye exam was thorough, but I am still entirely unimpressed with this place.
I've been going to the Uptown theater for several decades now, and it's my go to choice when viewing blockbuster films. It really helps that's it's just over a mile from my house in DC. Four stars instead of five because the parking is horrendous. It's best to use the deadly red line, which has a stop only a few feet from the theater
I've been getting my eyes examined here for years. Dr. Schneid found a problem with my retina. I really appreciate that he is so thorough.
