I've been going to Washington Eye Care ever since the last company I used abruptly closed and every experience I've had with them has been a pleasant one.
Furthermore, each time I go here the establishment is always clean and tidy but more importantly I can always find a nice pair of stylish glasses that suits my needs. !!
Staff in store seem nice... the time it takes to get your glasses 8 weeks...Does.except insurance, but so many over priced fees. America best is cheaper, w/o insurance.
Plus rude staff when they call you
You ask questions... They jus hang up. Not alot of parking options aswell!
I have been going to Washington Eyecare for many years, when they were Freeds Optical. I have always felt that Dr. Kimmeth was thorough with the exams but her time management has always been very poor. At my last visit the front desk staff got me checked in, then the young lady took me back to take my blood pressure & eye pressure. I was then placed in the exam room to wait for the doctor. I knew it was to good to be true when everything was going so smoothly. The doctor had a contractor there who she was walking around the office with showing him what work she wants done in and around her office. Needless to say once she came in to me she was speeding through my appointment. I began asking her about the test that were done. She actually looked surprised that I asked. It was obvious to me she was not going to discuss test results with me. She constantly operates in rush mode, with no consideration for the time I have been waiting. Shes at work and I have to get to work. I was the first of four patients waiting for her to finish with the contractor. I will not be going back to her. I will say she has a full staff and they do their part but the doctor isn't doing what she needs to do in managing her time. The contractor should have come before or after patients hours.
Still waiting for glasses went to get my daughter eye exam on 12/26/24. Was told it take eight weeks for the glasses. Now we are on the eighth week and still no glasses. My daughter is in the 5th grade and cant see. I pleaded for them to expedite this process, front desk staff simply said i have to wait. Now my calls go to voicemail! Please Avoid this place. I expected much better by the location, the exam went well, but the wait time is unacceptable!
If I could give zero stars, I would. This has been one of the most frustrating, disappointing, and infuriating experiences I've ever had with a vision care provider.
I visited this location in early February for a routine eye exam. The exam itself was standard, and I selected a pair of frames, paying an additional $190 out of pocket for transition and scratch-resistant lenses. I was told my glasses would arrive in 6-8 weeks. Reasonable enough--so I thought.
Fast forward to the end of March: no glasses, no updates. When I called to follow up, I was met with a revisionist version of the timeline--apparently 6-8 weeks "not including weekends." Even with that generous interpretation, 8 weeks from Feb 3 (excluding weekends) lands us at March 28. And yet, here I am in May, still without the glasses I paid for--glasses I need just to be able to see clearly.
Every attempt at getting answers has been met with vague deflections and excuses. I've called and stopped in multiple times, only to be told the same recycled lines: "Your glasses are on the way," or "We just got a shipment; maybe your glasses are in it." Maybe? You mean to tell me no one there is capable of opening a box and checking?
Even worse, I asked them to call the manufacturer directly for an update. Their response? "We can't call them." Why not? What kind of business takes your money, makes you wait months, and then refuses to even pick up the phone to investigate why you haven't received the product?
To make matters worse, when I asked what options I had, they told me I could cancel the order--but if I did, I'd be forced to wait 30 days for my insurance benefit to be "returned," then another 30 days for it to be reprocessed. That's two more months before I could even begin the process again--with no guarantee of a better result.
This is not just a customer service failure. It's a complete abdication of responsibility. I've been left in the lurch, without the glasses I paid for, without any real communication, and without even the basic courtesy of an honest update.
I still don't have my glasses. I still can't see clearly. And apparently, no one at this provider cares enough to do anything about it.
Avoid this place at all costs.
The absolute worst! It's takes several calls to get someone on the phone to schedule an appt, the staff is rude, and the appointments are set several months out. I arrived to my childs appointment extremely early (I had the wrong time, that's on me) still had a very long wait after being check in. No one ever mentioned i was too early. I asked to have my appt reschedule after patiently
waiting over an hour bc i knew i was early. I asked to have the appt reschedule only to be ignored. Myself or my children will never attend this practice again.
THE ABSOLUTE WORST. Went in for my exam on Dec 4, 2024. My prescription hadn't really changed but I decided to use an old pair of frames for the slightly changed prescription. Was told I really didn't need a new pair, but I decided to get it. Fast forward to today, almost eight weeks later and no glasses. I am getting the run around from them.. I called my credit card company and told them to reverse the charge for the new lenses as I will never see them at this point. They have already done so. I called my insurance company and asked if they could pull back the payment and they said they would. This isn't even subpar service, it goes beyond that. I have contacted them four times and get the same answer, "we don't know." I am convinced they lost the frames and are not telling me. Simply put..IT DOES NOT TAKE EIGHT WEEKS TO GET A NEW PAIR OF GLASSES. Very shady practice; avoid at all cost.
My appointment was in April. It's June now. I haven't received my new glasses yet. I think next time, I'll eat the cost and just go back to America's Best. I would've had them by now. Also, at least AB's equipment doesn't break down while using it. Not a very disabled friendly environment either. The office is really small and needs an update. Up front staff and tech were great. The actual eye doctor however, wanted to get the appointment over with as soon as I sat down. Once I get my glasses, I'm not going back
Update: I finally got my glasses. Another warning, the doors are really heavy going in. Head doc nor tech I worked with were there. I went up front and stated that I'm here for a pick-up, I'm usually soft spoken in front of stranger's so I thought the woman behind the desk didn't hear me so I said it again. She very curtly replied "Sign-in". I did that and went to go sit down. There was only one other customer there. Before I got the chance to sit, another lady called my name. They have a little floor ac, it was pretty cool. I wasn't going to be long anyway. Another lady pulled out the chair for me to look in the mirror which was nice. I forgot how cluttered the office was? Maybe they should give hoarders a call. I signed the confirmation form and left as soon as I could.
Oh and if you're wondering, No, they don't recycle frames
Like I said, I'm not going back there
Good Luck everyone!
11/4/23 LAST UPDATE:
Hey, so I had my glasses for three months and realized that I didn't have to adjust to them. I went back to America's Best as soon as I got the chance. Turns out the optometrist here gave me the same perception that I had two year's ago! Go to America's Best if you can, avoid this place!
I can actually see now... properly, got my glasses a week after my appointment
